In which case why is Harrison in the squad when he played for Ireland in the WC

| I agree Clan, people may not like him but we need a half back who has a good tactial kicking game. Tomkins and McGuire do not fit the bill.
Ellis to move to the centre's after about 20 minutes of the first test against the Aussies/Kiwis with Sinfield or O'Loughlin coming off the bench in the pack. Sad but likely

No!
His situation is no different to Ben Harrison or Chris Bridge.
He's available, he has the best kicking game of any scrum half in the league, he's a goal kicker, He can defend which means he does'nt have to be hidden somewhere in the threequarter line, He's got a great running game and will take on the line He's got enough pace to go the length of the field, He's got the ability and the maturity to boss the forwards and the game, He's got so much dog in him he should be on a lead but don't all the great half backs have that. He would'nt be fazed by any opposition he'd relish it!
Andy Gregory, Alex Murphy anyone?
We've craved a halfback with a bit of arrogance and the skills to back it up for years, at one time it was a pre requisite.
You might not like him but his omission from the England team is a joke.
We have no maturity in the half back role other than Danny McGuire at Stand off, Brough is a scrum half.
We are very likely going to shoe horn Sinfield into the team in order to add some organising and some semblance of a kicking game. Unfortunately as good as Sinfield is at club level he is proven not to be up to International standard at the highest level e.g. Aus & NZ.
I'm not Danny or his dad!
His exclusion just seems stupid to me.

i think Tony Smith is finally we have got a coach who has picked a squad on performance over the season and not reputation.

Don't be daft, Freaky doesn't waste his time watching lower grade competitions.
Doesn't stop him thinking that he's uniquely qualified to offer an opinion on them though.

Apart from goalkicks Sam Tomkins has the better stats over the season. He deserves a t least a chance to see what he can do.

Broughs error and penalty count are way too high.

You can slant the stats to suit most arguments!!
Brough has more meters per carry, more assists per game, less missed tackles per game, more clean breaks per game, more offloads per game.
Not that takes away from Tomkins and yes he should be in the squad and get game time, just think Brough should too!

Probably the best pack in world rugby league also...(if they were all playing at their peak), alas dreams dont happen....the weakness in the backs will ensure a thirty point beating..'"
Interesting how we once couldnt compete in the pack to a complete desert of backs within 20 years.
Fancy sticking that pack with Edwards, Gregory, Schofield, Newlove, Offiah, Hunte, Hanley, Davies, Lydon etc

I agree, people keep going on about the centres looking weak, i'm far more worried about the halfs we have 5 options a0 a loose forward playing out of position who while good at club level has always failed internationally, b) a good experianced 6, that has no experiance playing 7, c) a young kid who has just played his first sl season, who was great in the first half of the season, then hardly played, d) a young 6, again in his debut sl season, who has looked great, but is an out 6 and is lacking in experiance and wasnt first choice in his position at his club, and finally e)another youngster, who is fast and skillfull, but is small, lacks experiance and hasnt played that many games in the halfs.
With danny brough included in that team we would have looked alot stronger.
