Financially penalising a club struggling financially was going to achieve what exactly?'"
They were NOT PENALISED FINANCIALLY, it was NOT IMPOSED ON THEM. They OFFERED TO FORGO the money to STAY IN SL (much like the Liberal Dems will do much about anything to be in power).
And yet even while knowing they didn't have the money they still spent it, just as they had been doing for years. As others have pointed out they failed to cut their cloth to suit. Has it not dawned on you that if they'd have got the money they'd have simply spent even more and still been in the same boat?

| i don't like seeing any rugby league club struggling or threatened with extinction, especially one which is struggling due to unforeseen circumstances, however bradford have brought all their troubles on themselves and seemingly just carried on regardless.
like daz, i have sympathy with the long standing fans of bradford northern and i hope for their sakes they can get through it and still have a club to support. i suspect they will feel more at home now with crowds down below 6,000.
as for the glory brigade, rightly,as daz points out, they reap what they sow.
quite amusing that we were ridiculed for having our local derby with batley/dewsbury.... enjoy it yourselves soon chaps!

| Love this bit from Sadler's column in League Express re. Rimmer's statement.
"I'm not sure Ralph tool legal advice before releasing the statement, I suspect he didn't."
The truth will out.

| Christ some Huddersfield and Wakefield fans on this thread really do make their clubs look small.
They seem like the kind of people who would plant a sucker punch on Ali today and think they were Frazier in '71.
The best want to beat the best at their best. they would want the challenge of Bradford at the height of bullmania to compete with, to measure themselves against. But it seems some feel like a bigger fish when the pond gets smaller.

Many people have hidden agendas I suspect.
When it's bitter and twisted fans of other clubs I can live with it though.

So then the story about spreading the £600k Sky money deduction over 5 years rather than this year becomes important, and not an unreasonable request?
Which can be spun as Rimmer saying a £500k advance, or also basically correct as deferring a £500k penalty...'"
Actually, the RFL are technically correct when talking about the "advance" issue.
The Bulls' share of the withheld Sky money has already been distributed to other clubs, therefore it is not in the pot to give back to the Bulls.
So, if Moore proposed a £100k per year deduction, and the current deduction is £600k, then the RFL would have needed to find and advance £500k to the Bulls this year, then take £100k per year back from future Sky payments.
Therefore, Rimmer is technically correct when he says the RFL would have had to advance £500k as it isn't in the SL distribution pot any longer.
In this instance, the deferral and advance are the same things.

| The thread is about the Bulls, so I agree with the other mods, wishing ill on the Bulls would seem whilst a matter of taste, fair game.
I'm personally a bit of a stickler for the swear filter. I can't abide dodges. Just type the word and if it's allowed it's allowed. Putting in the odd * shows intent to dodge.

And if the big, bad RFL and the other clubs had refused, where would that have left Bradford? Honest question BTW, I don't know the answer...

As you said that OK Bulls offered it, then it seems that only OK Bulls can answer that one. Maybe a better question would be, "What were they thinking?"

OK bulls offered it in the same way you offer a mugger your wallet.

If Ok said he could save the bulls and take a cut in the sky money, serious questions shouyld have been asked by the RFL, like prove it, show us cash in the bank funds to cover that. The clubs should have said the same before agreeing to it.
There seems to be a culture of just believeing what potential club owners tell the RFL. When the Bulls2014 consortium planned to buy the club with its own money, did someone not think "hang on, the club doesnt have any money"
Collosal Mismanagement by OK and Bulls2014. It doesnt take a genius to work out if you can run a club or not. If the club is losing £1million a year, were are you going to find that? you're going to have to fund it yourself for at least the first 18 months, and thats if you make a huge turn around in the clubs fortunes. Realistically a club owner is going to continue to fund a club financially throughout his/her tenure so they need to have serious money behind them.
Why wasn't this checked? I think the RFL panicked, and thought there was a real chance the Bulls would be liquidated, and just went with whoever showed and interest in taking over. All they did in doing this is kick the can down the road a bit. But what else could they do? let the Bulls fold? they'd be crucified by everyone for letting that happen when people were alledgedly trying to buy them.
Rock and a hard place for the RFL on this one. Bet they'd love another Dr Marwin right now!

Maybe, but again, what would have happened if the RFL and the other clubs had refused?

Well, option 2 for the administrator was to allow the Super League (Europe) bid to go ahead.
