| I don't think we're a "big" club anymore: in fact I don't think any fans do. Our main objective is to avoid relegation. Not one fanis thinking about the play-offs. Even before we get deducted points it was all about survival. Any one from 6 teams can go down. It's going to be an almighty scrap ad more difficult with out (deserved) points deduction

| Quote: Father Ted "Just as an aside.
With Wakefield having had to release players to ease the salary burdon and transfer fees to assist cash flow why on earth have they aquired a "consultant/chief executive"?
What a waste of money that is! That cash should be spent surely on ground improvements and if possible a signing or two to strengthen the squad?
My own club Wigan haven't had a Chief Exec for years and it hasn't stopped their progress. Lenagan obviously feels it is an expense they do not need to make.
I do hope Wakefield can spend their money more wisely than on a CEO!'" I'm not sure whether this is naive or just ill-informed. Interestingly enough, the Wakefield Chairman has just been on Radio Leeds during which he noted what Kath Hetherington has brought to the business, in the process highlighting the Lenegan myth that successful businessmen know instinctively how to run RL clubs. Having someone who knows the specific ins and outs of a particularly odd business model and who has a long contact list in the small RL community of often unusual people is a vast benefit. Perhaps Lenegan's lack of anyone in this position explains Wigan's apparent disproportionate lack of influence amongst their peers and their difficulties in getting a decent sponsor?

| And still the actual game on the field is being ignored.
There seems to be a strange obsession with anything that is not part of the key reason for the game to exist.

| As Michael Carter said on radio Leeds Kath Hetherington has an immense knowledge of the game and has played a crucial role in the rebuilding of the team.
That is why she is involved.
He admits he has not got that knowledge, experience or contacts.

Yeah but none of that helps us find a reason to slag you off. You need to give us something to work with here.

| No doubt the Wakey Chairmen checked KH's record at Gateshead and HullFC. Wasn't she also involved with Bramley at some point?
Lenegan has won trophies, more than any other owner or club this decade. As for influence with his peers, you have to be joking! All the major businesmen/owners are on Lenagan's side. When the two clubs get relegated Lenagan and his mates will have a majority in SL. All the relegation candidates are in the RFL camp!
As for sponsors, Wigan have more club sponsors now than at anytime.
The club is winning trophies and making a profit. To compare Wakefield's recent record with Wigan's and Hetherington with Lenagan is laughable!
If Carter thinks Lenagan doesn't know how to run a Rugby club or how to deal with that kind of busniness model, the guy really needs a good talking to.
As for contacts, which quality player has she signed to strengthen the squad then?
Some loanees from Leeds, yeah Gary is a really good contact.

I listened to it and Carter doesn't even mention Lenegan's name. All he said when asked about the new deal, is if the clubs didn't want the deal they could have voted against it, simple as that.
About Kath, he mentions for example that Scott Anderson came to us from a recomendation from Danilel Anderson who phoned Kath direct. Like Carter says he would have never rung him because of his lack of contacts.

Shush, you're getting in the way of a great rant about something that never happened.

That's an impressive rant; unfortunately, none of the things you're railing against actually happened.

| Based on Hetherington's observations on Radio Leeds this evening it is clear that he has very little time for Lenegan's "narrow views" based on "self interest" and accepts that they are "north and south poles" apart.
Hetherington has very little to prove to a young pup like Lenegan whose achievements in club-building are comparatively trivial. But to get back to the point - Hetherington is not the club owner at Leeds. Paul Caddick isn't an RL insider - he brought Hetherington in to do that for him. That all the "successful businessmen" are supposedly lined up with Lenegan is a laughable idea - Caddick and McManus and O'Connor are, of course, all significantly more wealthy than Wigan's owner. They just aren't as vocal in pressing their club's self-interest over the greater good of the game.

| Are people still taking the p*ss out of our crappy old ground
Atleast some of the bulls fans on this thread are seemingly finding some comfort away from their own ground/financial issues, in doing so. Fill your boots lads

Scott Anderson from Brisbane Broncos for one, according to MC on the radio last night that was through her contacts. 2 NRL grand finals under his belt, looks good on paper. Time will tell
