My late wife died of bronchial pneumonia according to her death certificate. She actually died of other causes......which were also listed on the same paperwork, but the main cause stays the same even though her daughter fought long and hard to prove otherwise and won......my point is that covid doesn't have to be the bullet, but it most certainly is pulling the trigger in great deal of cases.
I believe th number of people in UK hospitals as of Thursday with Covid 19 was 5,000......are there people Hypochondriacs or is this a nasty little virus that is assisting a great number of people shuffle off?
Back on Thread. I asked an all black yesterday what his opinion was about heading to Europe to play in a pandemic....he replied that he goes where he's asked to play. His wife chipped in that her and his daughters had booked into managed isolation with him when he returns, so they could spend time with him...at their own expense. Given NRL players must earn more than the ABs skipper, why don't they do something similar?

| Jeez, I thought this was a rugby forum, not a Covid statistic and conspiracy theory forum.
The NRL top brass don’t deserve the respect of people debating the ins and outs of Covid, as all it does is give weight to their reasoning for not coming. Them not wanting the players to come over here in October has about as much to do with Covid as it does the type of teabags that will be left in the players hotel rooms. In fact if they’d said they weren’t letting them come over due to it being Tetleys tea bags I’d have given it more credence.

I thought it was the case the players can't isolate with families. The current bubble in queensland the NRL also took families and put them in a bubble at its own expense but the families and players don't stay together. They stay at different parts of the hotel.
I don't think the players having to quarantine alone on return from the world cup is the issue. The NRL and others are more concerned with quarantined meaning very little pre season before the start of the new season.
I think some of the players who have said they will go may just change there mind when explained what it will be like. Some of them won't be enjoying the bubble in queensland let alone flying to the other side of the world to do it all again.
I suggest people look at Phil Goulds twitter time line since the announcement. Full credit to Gould for interacting with those who agree and disagree with him. Pretty funny stuff.

| Here's a thought.
If the RLWC was 'selling well' and "making money", then the organisers should publish as much, Quoting a cash figure on the ANZACS pulling out and threatening legal action......something concrete other than "it would have seen full stadiums"......then the NRL would have a fiscal hit regardless

You'd be wrong again, more false information/lies been spread, are you a government bot that spreads lies to create fear and misinformation, you certainly say the right stuff regards deliberatley conflating fact with fiction!
5,000 people In hospital with a positive test, that as I've told you is not an indication of actual infection, ergo unless they have a culture test, infection cannot be determined. 'Lab confirmed' means 'we've done a PCR test'. It's yet another example of deliberately conflating one thing with another, hence of the 5,000, how many persons of that 5k have been correctly identified as having an infection called SARS COV2?
They are falsely labelled Covid19 on the back of a PCR test that we know cannot detect infection and false positives at the level the UK and other countries does them at. I presume you've seen the science done by labs actually testing PCR? https://academic.oup.com/cid/advance-ar ... 91/5912603
I'm sure you listened to how the UK prime ninister admitted that 93% of case positives were false?
What is shuffling people off prematurely is cancer, heart disease, strokes, suicicide and more, all things on the increase because the government decided none of these health and social roblems were important when deciding to shut down the country, remove health and social care to millions of people over long periods.
Have a read of this if you're truly bothered about how people are being killed, compiled by an independant quantative analyst

What's been written that is conspiracy, care to prove that?
When the very foundation of our sport and the communities of rugby league towns and cities are adversely affected to the point of the sport been destroyed at a professional level and the unravelling of grass roots rugby league, it's important to understand what is happening and why.
Decisions made by country's governing bodies on the back of the information they are given is understandable because they beleive in what's been written/said and use that to back out of the World Cup.
When we can prove that there is no risk over and above any other year and that governments around the world (as well as so called global orgs) are falsifying the state of public health then it's important for that to be talked about. Continung down this route of the government pressing ever more to inject people with a toxic agent (and will do so indefinitely) and crushing the way we live, crushing individuals basic human rights and society through their actions has a massive affect on us all, it is having and will have further detrimental affect on the sport that we hold closely to us, that has had a huge influence on our lives.

But if you have the time, figure out (or get your independent quantitative analyst to) why 2010-2019 saw an average of 585,000 deaths in the UK but in 2020, that number jumped to 696,000?
I'm not asking if you believe in Covid 19 or if you think it's a killer or not, I am asking why there were 110,00+ more bodies in the UK compared to the 10 year average prior.

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

For more understandable reasons, to be fair. Being away from your family for four months, including over Christmas, is brutal.
Also worth noting that the vast majority of NRL players, do want to come here for the WC. Just the organizations that don't.

It is understandable just is any NRL player that doesn't want to go. They are going 3 months in queensland then another 7 weeks in England.
You have Melbourne storm and NZ Warriors who if go are looking at nearly 2 years away from home.
I still think the NRL could have handled it better though and had their own discussions with players and staff and determined who wants to go and who doesn't.
Crazy really that they didn't do that. Now it could be difficult as I'm not sure there are players who will publicly say they don't want represent Australia or NZ in a world cup.

A professional sportsman should, covid aside, expect to travel to play games. We are in a once in a century situation here and the last time we had such a pandemic, global travel wasn't really an issue....in 1908, the touring Kangaroos played 45 games over a 6 month period, excluding a month at sea either way. Some of the Kangaroos missed their own Grand Final to be part of the tour.....NRL players will get time with their loved ones as the season ends before jumping on a plane to the UK to live in a bubble for 4 weeks before heading home and after 2 weeks in a hotel with internet access and other leisure facilities, they'll be home in time for Christmas.......and 100+ days before the start of their season.
The All Blacks are off to play in Washington DC, then Italy, Wales, France and Ireland later this year. The Wannabees are off to Scotland, England & Wales.......the Kiwis and Kangaroos, regardless of their supposed reasoning are going to look foolish and cowardly if they don't send teams to the RLWC.

They do get a bit of family time but I see your point.
As inferred though, the players aren't an issue here. Over 75% said they didn't have any concerns.
75%, at least, of NRL players being available would still make for a very strong World Cup.
As you said, the lack of discussion with the players about it is crazy. Which has led to the wide held belief that Aus and NZL are just using safety concerns as an excuse.
