We've been dire for weeks on end now. This isn't new. The team looks unfit, clueless and playing with zero enthusiasm. We're it not for a good run early in the season, we'd be staring down the barrel of a gun. I don't understand how we can go from arguably our seasons peak, the first half of the Vegas match, to this utter shambles. I fear there is more to this than meets the eye.
You may well be right. This is clearly more than a mid-season dip in form. What did Peet say after the game?

| I'll die on this hill on my own but I'm still convinced we'll be fine. It's shocking at the minute, no two ways about it but you need to play well for a few weeks to win this comp and I think we will. When you get to the big games, everyone's effort/attitude/concentration is normally around the same levels and it then comes down to class and we have that in spades.
In terms of today, Peet got what he deserved. I said going to the game he was playing with fire going with Wade over Douglas and it proved that way. They've said in the week Wade won't be staying on due to cap space. That begs the question as to why the hell he was signed in the first place? He's 34 years of age and will need a good 4-6 months to get up to speed. He's been hung out to dry and it's disrespectful to Hull to think you could get away with it again.
He's had a mare this last few weeks Peet in terms of the wingers. He rushed Miski and Marshall back at Leigh, when he had Eckersley and Douglas sat in the stands. It's been a knock on effect since, with those two starters needing to miss games and him having to move Eckersley to centre. I'm baffled where the trust in Wade has come from. Peet on loads of occasions had put a young player on the bench and not brought them on but he's ok with playing a Union player, from the start, who has 5 weeks of RL experience at the back of them. Some of those young players he hasn't trusted to give minutes to have been playing this sport for 10-15 years. Peet said Wade apologised to him at the end of the game. I just hope he had the good grace to tell him not to be daft and that he apologised to him.

| Looks like there'll be two new faces next week at fullback and centre unless MP does the unthinkable and plays Farrell at centre

| I'd go with a reserve side next week and freshen everything up. Even players who are in the team currently like Keighran and Wardle clearly aren't fully fit. Give them 3 weeks between now and Wire away and start the season again.
I'd go old school and take them on the lash in Benidorm, get drunk and have some conversations about what they want to be known as. Too many look happy to wait for French to get back and pull their backsides out the fire. Too many look happy with what they've done in 2023 and 2024. They're too good a group of players to be happy to just perform for a few weeks a season. They all look to comfy at the minute! Challenge them and get them to challenge each other. They left their excitement to play the game in Vegas and now is the time to find it.

| A really disappointing afternoon all round. Our form has been abject for a few months now and people seem to think this is a mid season blip. It's much more than that. I appreciate we've got injuries and French is a huge miss, but every team has injuries. We aren't dealing with it.
The team is completely disjointed, lacking cohesion and a simple game plan. Harry Smith looks like a player with the weight of the world on his shoulders. Extremely disappointed with the performance levels of Byrne, Havard and Ellis, O'Neill. They were battered by Hull today.
I don't want to criticise Wade too much. His selection is on Peet and Wade can only do what he can do with the experience hes got playing RL. Looks like hes agile, got a decent step on him and can finish a a try off, but thats all irrelevant if he can't do the basics of what a winger needs to be, safe under the high ball. Peet should take him out the firing line because he'll just become a scape goat. You could see Wardle had no trust in him and it will affect the teams performance trying to compensate for him.
I'm not ruling us out at all, but i do think we have a bit of mountain to climb in terms of performance to be able to win a grand final. Our physicality and intensity is seriously lacking. We are coming up to an important part of the season and its just not something you can turn on when you haven't played well in months, especially when everyone raises their game because we're the reigning champions.
Catalans (H) Week off Wire (A) KR (H) Wakefield (H) Catalans (A)
Lots of work to do and a big few weeks for the coaching team to get it right.

| Our middles at the moment are shocking.
Wade was a bit of a novelty which needs to be now done with.
Ellis is playing some of the worst rugby I’ve seen, he’s a player I really rate however currently he is miles off.
We lack any dynamism and personality in our pack and it’s extremely evident at the moment as there is simply no fight in them.
I think loosing Isa has been huge, not necessarily on the playing front but his effect in the changing room as toughness and standards are simply not the same.

| Ellis Farrell and Nsemba have barely missed a minute this season and look like they're running on empty, just leave them all out next week, LLS is not happening this season so let's just be as fresh as possible for the play-offs

Maybe but lose on Friday and we may not make the top 2, would that give us the playoff challenge we need to kickstart?

| The injuries aren't helping. Being without French, Miski, Farrimond, Thompson, Walters, and now probably Eckersley and Field would gut any team in a salary capped sport. I'm not sure a few of them are 100% fit either. Keighran, for instance, has been heavily strapped for a while, and didn't do any kicking yesterday.
That's not to excuse those who have been asked to fill in, as they haven't been playing well at all, and are so far off the level achieved in Vegas.

| The problem is the coaching staff, they are simply not up to task despite last seasons heroics, they have go as far as they can, time for some big pay outs and their release and bring in Ivan Cleary and his son, bye bye Harry Smith
