I agree. It's perfectly suited to a cup game, but not at all necessary for the league.

A draw and a point could be the difference between relegation and staying up come the season end.

If it is a 'Must', then it needs to be a 3 point match with the extra point going to the team getting the golden point if successful.

Adds nothing to the game, we've won some and lost plenty. It just feels contrived. A draw is a fair result when two teams perform at a similar level for 80m, no need to force a binary outcome.

When this rule was brought in it should have been a point for each team with a bonus point for winning in golden point. It's madness that a team can come away with nothing after effectively matching the opposition for 80 minutes, especially when they might not even get a touch of the ball.

Another game last night where two sides equally matched after 80 minutes couldn’t end in a draw. Decided after 13 hours of tit for tar drop goal attempts. I lost count at 900 missed drop goals.

Golden point is the worst Australian import since Rolf Harris.

Needs to end ... nothing wrong with a draw in a league fixture.

A League should be decided on points earned, if you win you earn 2 points, if you draw you earn 1 point.

The golden point could be used after extra time in knockout games.

The RFL (in its infinite wisdom) toyed with this before but only at Championship (and maybe League 1) level - think it was 2015. Two points for a win, none for a tonking but one bonus point for the losing side if they restricted the margin to two scores or less. Computer re-runs of previous seasons showed that this would not have skewed the tables very much but would, it was thought, incentivise trailing teams.

It was abandoned after one season!

IMG might revive it as they seem to be adopting every other previously failed RL scheme!
