There are more of us that do not want them than do . They will be gone within 2 years . I do not mind expansion but it should start from closer to home and our long serving , heartland clubs should be looked after . How it was an even playing field when there was such a difference in salary cap i will never know'"
Where is the evidence for your opening statement?

Closer to home? This sport has failed miserably with expansion closer to home simply because the administrators don't have a clue.
As for looking after heartland clubs? These clubs have ruled the roost for over 100 years and where exactly is the game going? It's not growing and we need to look outside the heartlands.

If the sport really wanted expansion to work then new franchises should be supported given exemptions on certain things.
Toronto losing central funding is just another example of short term thinking. A strong Toronto is only good for the game and I for one would have no issue if they were given salary cap exemptions or more room with overseas players. That's how it should be with new franchises.

| Don’t think Toronto wanted central funding as they can generate more from Canadian TV and sponsorship so expect high paid Marquee players as well as spending to full salary cap. There strategy has been to outspends clubs so fa, don’t see that changing. They will change the financial dynamic of SL as they have done in championship which will be far more level playing field and tight competition next year.

Or on any day, in February, March or most of April!
Well done to them, on earning promotion. Should be interesting to see how things go in SL.

| People seriously worried about games with no atmosphere?
They are going to get 10,000 a game, at least for their first season. Because they have been getting 7,000+ a game in the Championship. How many do Salford / London / Wakefield get for a home game - it's certainly nowhere near 10,000!
This is credible, sustainable expansion with a well supported club who started at the bottom, the usual argument against franchises being entirely artificial clubs in parts of the country with no love for the game starting life in the top flight.
There is a credible plan for a 2nd Canadian club in 2021 and, if that takes off, it wouldn't surprise me if we had New York shortly after.
Rugby League failed in any meaningful top flight expansion unit Catalan Dragons came along - I think Toronto could be the second success story.
They are also the World's only trans-Atlantic sports team, which has to count for something and will surely attract some publicity and sponsorship.

Unless I’m mistaken there was no difference in their salary cap
