| ^^ No I don't at all, I'm a business owner myself and seeing other businesses get into financial trouble is something I never want to see. If you read my posts correctly you will see that I state that a drop down in order to rebuild could be a good option. If the RFL were a little more proactive rather than reactive then they may have been able to provide guidance a lot earlier to Salford. It may be dressed up as a sponsor trying to raise funds, but it's basically the club asking for financial help and the sponsor being the first to donate and get the ball rolling.

| Is it not the case that Salford are tied into one of the, if not the most expensive stadium rental agreement in the league. Or at least that is what I remember Marwan saying a few years ago.
I get the impression that they have high overheads with stadium rent plus the stadium is bemoaned by Salford fans as hard to access. Relegation/demotion may cut their income far more than it cuts their costs so I wonder if relegation would be a severe downward spiral for them. Like caslad I don't want to see any business suffer yet without the cash of Marwan I don't know how they have a long term sustainable business model.

| Quote homme vaste="homme vaste"Wakefield are sustainable purely from our own income - We have no one pouring money into the club, what comes into the club is what is spent on the squad after all bills are factored in, nothing more. Huddersfield are propped up by Ken and should he decide to leave the club I can imagine they would struggle in the current situation they are in with there outgoings.'"
Comedy gold
Also from the delusions of a wakey fan. A new stadium coming soon, for free.

| If the RFL were even remotely concerned about Salford, they would have placed them in special measures and restricted any further signings they made.
It doesn't seem like they've done that.
Has this fundraiser been orchestrated by the club officially, or is it one of the club sponsors who are doing this? The article is unclear.

| The thing about being the "next Bradford" is that the Bulls have somehow retained a sizeable core support which enables a plausible longterm route back to the top flight.
Could Salford similarly hope to attract 6,500 in the 3rd division, and if they couldn't what would be the financial basis of their recovery?
Salford dropping out could all too easily spell oblivion and that would be absolutely awful.

It's not so much about recovering, but finding your sustainable level.
Without a benefactor, Salford are probably (realistically) only self sufficient as a part time championship side.

With the rent they have to pay at the AJ bell that is probably true, if they were still at the willows and they had that extra income free to spend on their playing squad then perhaps they could look to compete with other clubs around the bottom end of SL.

I'd say that's the case for every club bar maybe 3 or 4.

I'm not sure it's as bad as that. Wakefield continue to demonstrate that it's possible to be competitive in SL without paying over the top for superstars and also without a benefactor's input.
I just think that in quite a few cases, clubs just need to be smarter.

Not sure what you're implying? Are Widnes dire on the field? Yes. Are Widnes running up massive debts or have a sugar daddy? No, but if you know any please let me know! We have one of the best academies in the country so not sure how it isn't sustainable.
