New France was established in 1534 and remained under French rule power was ceded to the United Kingdom in 1763 after the war.......so without the British, Canadians (note I didn't say you) would be speaking French and French alone. Given the relationship between the 3 parties involved in North America, it's fair to say that if France had won the war with Britain, then the US would have gone hell for leather after Canada......so....nope....I'd say I have a pretty good grasp of History.

Answer: Impossible the United Kingdom was formed under the Acts of Union in 1801, well after your date.

Answer: Many, many First nations languages were spoken in Canada at this time; you totally ignore their presence.....Canada was then, and still is, a nation of immigrants. More languages are spoken here than in any nation on earth. It has always been this way. I speak French.

Answer: And what three parties would these be after the Conquest of 1763? An enlightened man would place the First Nations there (but that would mean a rudimentary knowledge of treaty rights which were signed between the Crown and First nations) not the United States AS THEY HAD NOT EVEN BEEN FORMED YET!!!! If there was a third European nation it would have been Spain (ever hear of it?)

The sport has had a professional presence in Canada for less that two years. Two. Amd we're expecting a team full of competitive Canadian talent within that time?

It's hardly like many of of our 'heartlands' are producing masses of talent, and they've had much longer to get it right. Of the last England World Cup squad, half of the players came from just three club academies. And the last players to play for England from the "heartland" of Cumbria were Ade Gardner and Rob Purdham.

Perhaps it's better to look at actually growing the talent pool, rather than complaining about more clubs tapping the same well? Or is that too much like hard work?

Melbourne have produced how many Victorians in 20 or so years? Any new side needs time & patience. It wasn’t so long ago people said the same about London, and now their academy products are littered throughout the leagues.
