Other than the 2-3 opposition players who go straight for the attacker, I think the rest are in shock including his own team mates. How many times have we seen that in RL over the years, none as far as I can remember.

The only time I heard of something similar of any capacity was I remember a mates dad worked in a warehouse in Leigh back in the mid-late 80's and a colleague of his had played for Leigh East/Miners and had recently been banned for life for head-butting the referee.

People seem not to have noticed that the referee is Benjamin Casty, the brother of Catalans Dragons' famous captain Remi Casty. That makes the whole thing even more troubling.

Why? Is he worth more than other people?

Doesn't matter who the ref is, or who he is related to.

The Casty family is an iconic French rugby league family. Attacking a member of that family is like attacking French rugby league as a whole.

Disgraceful from the player. He should never play the greatest game of all ever again. We have all had a go at the ref from the stands but not one rugby league fan will have enjoyed watching that video. I would imagine the player who attacked the ref will be more worried about the legal ramifications rather than never playing again.
