| I have no problems with the awards and think for once they are well deserved. Houghton is one of the most underrated players in the league and has been for years. I'd love him in my team.
For months I've said Radford should get coach of the season. Okay they've had the funds but so have Wire but I think their turnaround year on year has been more remarkable.
Obviously very pleased with the young player of the year which I feel is correct, trying to be as unbiased as possible. I know one/two Widnes fans have been vocally supporting Whitley who I also feel is creditable but I think TJ has a more notable impact this year even though he has suffered a bad injury. Both 2 big players for the future.

Clean sweep for Hull; Club, Coach, MOS not bad for a club that just hung on to the CC, finished n9owhere in the LLS and didn't make the Grand Final.
This confirms the mediocrity that SL now accepts as standard.'"
Yes I agree. Fancy a team who got beat by them twice in the regular season being in the final and fc aren't

Also as mentioned in other threads Chris Hill should have been on the short list in place of Ellis perhaps who has only played 21 games against Hill who has played all 30 games.'"

| I really struggle with people who criticise an award that was voted for by peers. Hill has been exceptional all season there is absolutely no doubting that. But to whinge and bitch that he should or shouldn't have been there instead of X is a little pathetic. I for one only really watch my own team intently. I can comment on my teams players and make good case for their inclusion. Over the years I have felt aggrieved about certain things, but when you have a transparent voting system like the MoS how can you start to get your blood pressure raised.
It's quite telling that Houghton has received other awards. It's also quite telling that Ellis has as well. They can't all support Hull FC. I am also certain Hull FC didn't pay for the awards.
I believe the club of the year was based on many factors not just results on the field. The improvement in that club over the past 12 months has been extraordinary.
It's time we as a RL family really started to stop the pathetic "banter" and embrace how good the game is and the personalities within it.
Well done to all the winners and to those who missed out you have your benchmark to achieve next season.

Its within our British nature to be nice. You only have to look at the annual sports awards; Frank Bruno, Phil Taylor etc
These are just sympathy votes for a team that has improved because no one else has dominated. The Hull coach was minutes from the door after Widnes for underachievement with a team which has spent 'Big'. They won the CC, a cup that there relegated neighbours reached the final off some 12 months earlier. Since then they have reached there level which is not club of the year nor coach of the year standard. Player of the year I have no issues with.

| On the plus side, the jealousy and bitterness on this thread does make a pleasant change from the usual Wigan and Leeds mud slinging.
Not knowing exactly when the votes were cast, perhaps some thought that Hull might still make the GF ??
Even so, they are THE most improved side in the comp.
The bitterness towards them is both funny and embarrassing in equal measure.

There was an enormous difference stat wise in contribution to effort, performance and effectiveness, almost a 2:1 ratio between the players. Its as though the short list was compiled way back to the CC final date.
