| Last 30 years you say ?
Well 30 years ago Huddersfield played in front of their lowest ever crowd - 303, in a ramshackled falling apart not fit for purpose ground with half it's main stand cordoned off and without two ha'penny's to rub together.
In the following 10 years they we're almost closed down due to financial difficulties twice, only saved late on by people who genuinely had a love for the club, left their ground without a proper goodbye or anything.
We we're thrown in to Super League probably before we were ready, thus resulting in us finishing bottom 4 years running and not being allowed to go down and rebuild the club as we wanted to - therefore losing most of the fanbase we had managed to build up in the pretty stable mid 90's.
Cajoled into a merger no one on either side wanted, losing us more fans and even to this day having to suffer jibes about it.
We are slowly making progress on and off the field, even now we are a club to ridiculed because of our crowds (how many other clubs have had to build from 303 ?), the way we always seem to 'bottle it' etc, but let's remember, while most sets of fans have enjoyed relative stability in 30 years and some lucky sets of fans have never had to endure seeing their club outside the top division struggling for their life, and indeed in some cases not winning a trophy for a couple of years is seen as a dark period for some clubs not one club has had to come from as deep down as Huddersfield, it's been bloody hard supporting this club in the last 30 years but for some of us it will hopefully be worth the wait soon !!
So i'll say my club, Huddersfield

| Quote: Tigerade "There's loads of clubs had it a lot tougher than WTW over the years.
A better question would be - what have they brought to the competition over the last 17 years in SL? Survival ever year as their sole aim? Avoiding the million pound game?
Sky certainly aren't getting their monies worth from WTW - they avoid picking them as much as they can.'"
Admittedly we haven't brought as much to the party as some but here's some off the top of my head:
Ellis & Westwood
Relegating Cas twice and setting up the whole concept of a "million pound game"
2 years ago the 7 match winning run which took us into the playoffs
The fact that we survive every year with the lowest budget is a good story in itself, while other clubs go up and down, Cas, Hudds, Bradford etc. We often survive on the final day of the season, 4 times to my reckoning so far, 5 if you include MPG.
We are a great proving ground for out of favour players to prove themselves and then move on to top sides- Brough, Aiton, Amor, Tautai, Ferres etc.
Id say that at the very least we are a much more interesting club than the likes of HKR, Widnes, Hull and Salford (Until Koukash)

When Bradford get promoted I will have seen absolutely everything it is possible for a British RL fan to see. I will be the most experienced RL fan in the country.

I appreciate where Huddersfield have come from & gone though over the said period, however surely the fundamental point of supporting any team is to witness them winning stuff?
In the last few years you’ve seen your club lift the L.L.S, participate in a C.C. final & be just eighty minutes from a G.F, as opposed to Wakefield who have managed just one C.C. semi in all that time, close but no cigar.

But winning things from where we have come from compared to even Wakefield who were seen as a big club by our fans back in the dark days is even more remarkable.
So you think Wakefield Trinity have had a worse last 30 years than Huddersfield based on the fact that we've done pretty well in the last 4/5 years after coming out of all the crap i've just described ?
maybe the original post should have stated last 5 years instead of 30 !!
for almost 20 years of those years Wakefield were considered a big club to our fans as were most current super league teams, teams we only thought we'd play if drawn against them in cups.

Indeed, & hopefully you will see a major trophy lifted in the next few years & I’m sure your elation will be exquisite, whereas the best I can hope for is staying up via the M.P.G.

Wasn't that long ago when finishing 2nd from bottom in SL was a major triumph for us ....we've had it tough for a long, long time...only the hard work and patience of everyone at the club have seen us turn the corner....whichever way you look at it Huddersfield have had a worse 30 years than Wakefield !!

That has helped, but that's what i was referring to when i said patience paid off, Ken could have walked away years ago especially since the club makes no money back for him....he didn't he vowed to make this club great again and is slowly doing so.

Well I look at it in terms of success.
As I have already stated, I.M.O. seeing the captain of your club lift a major trophy aloft is the pinnacle as a fan.
The elation felt must be delightful & not only makes up for all the awful years gone by, but lives in the memory, in readiness for any rubbish years to come.
Are you really saying you’d swap your sporting experiences for mine?

| Wires have been on a roller coaster ride over the last 30 years....lots of downs mixed in with some good ups. Stability and a new stadium have been the bedrock on which the ups have been built....critical to success. We are very lucky to have Simon Moran on-board.....very lucky indeed. Peter Deakin's involvement was massive as well...men with vision (and deep pockets).
We nearly went under....very very nearly. Relegation was a real possibility at times also. The good times seem better somehow after getting through the bad times. Supports are the constant....every club needs them and should do their upmost to keep them.

You asked which club has had it roughest over 30 years, in my opinion my club has from the examples i gave......if you had asked which clubs fans have seen the least number of trophies won/semi finals contested then it would not have been mine.
And no i wouldn't swap because in those dark days i had some great times and met some wonderful people ....it wasn't and still isn't all about winning things to me otherwise i would have been a Bradford or Leeds fans by now !!

| Wakefield have had their cup finals - relegating Cas twice and then the million pound game last year. I'd suggest they've had more lucky escapes than many other teams have had enjoyable seasons. Teams like Salford haven't had anything to crow about over the last couple of decades. They've had the relegations that Wakefield haven't had and zero finals/lucky escapes - that's much rougher than constantly magicking yourself out of relegation as Wakefield have managed season after season.
So in SL, Salford have probably had it worse than Wakefield. Outside of SL you can take your pick - every team (with the exception of Bradford) have had it rougher than Wakefield. If Wakefield had ever been relegated, maybe their fans would appreciate that rather than whinging about constantly being the bottom feeders of SL.

The thing is, it’s nigh on impossible to quantify as there isn’t a points system of say, +10 for winning a major trophy, or -5 for a relegation.
You’ve mentioned all the tough times at Huddersfield, whereas I haven’t bothered, there’s been too many, but at least yours are a thing of the past…
But at least you’ve admitted you wouldn’t swap places, whereas I would trade my team playing in a lower division just to have witnessed just one success, & as for the changing teams thing, well that’s just wrong & people who do have no soul.
