Quote Hull Kingston Bronco="Hull Kingston Bronco"I know that England Rugby League is more popular in the UK than Irish Rugby Union. '"
Alas, the viewers tuned into the BBC that weekend didn't agree with you....more of them tuned into Ireland v the AB's. I think you'll find the 6 nations average is 4.5 million a game, so Italy v Ireland is more popular than England RL.....
Quote Hull Kingston Bronco="Hull Kingston Bronco"I also know that a last seconds try in a competitive match, and one that sends the home nation out in a semi final to boot, is more significant than one in a friendly regardless. Hardly evidence of a chip on he shoulder, definitely evidence of yet more unreasonable ghettoising of our sport.'"
In your opinion as a fan of RL, the last minute score at Wembley was vastly more important than the Union match and rightly so, but because a UK based paper disagrees, it get's its very own insecurity thread on RLFANS.COM. Meanwhile, the TV figures together with the amount of printed coverage the following day in the UK based Sunday papers would point to more of the British public NOT sharing your point of view. As for me Ghettoising Rugby League, I rarely start these threads, but I do dare to post an alternative viewpoint in them that is backed up with facts, rather than whinge loudly that "IT'S NOT FAIR" which seems to be the standard response of RL fans when their localised pastime doesn't grab headlines.
Quote Hull Kingston Bronco="Hull Kingston Bronco"If you argue black is white, you undermine your credibility when you try and get people to agree when you have a reasonable idea that black is black mate, that's what winds people up on here with your constant Unionista nonsense - this case stinks and you know it.'"
Firstly, Black is Black. I never argue otherwise on here. Unionista nonsense is one way of putting it, but the reality is that in the UK......in fact, everywhere other than 1 Australian State, Union is streets ahead in terms of promoting itself and the subsequent public consciousness and awareness. Because I spell this out to idiots dreaming or world domination or even those who dream of a WA team in the NRL, I am branded with names that make the insecure feel better about themselves. Good for them.
As for 2013's Sporting moments, I have no doubt that the Big Hit semi-final last minute score should have been there, but I repeat....there's little point in getting y when a pseudo-left wing paper which probably sells the vast majority of its copy in the South of England should include an event that that caused little more than a ripple of interest outside the heartlands doesn't agree with us. There have been a number of great sporting achievements across a number of disciplines in the UK over the last 365 days.....and the old adage is true, you can never please all of the people all of the time!
