Correction, we need more more successful Super League clubs in the the south. The game in its current financial state cannot afford anymore clubs losing short of £2m a year.
So the consistently avoided question remains, who bank rolls these southern clubs?

It should be some very rich people who either attended or watched on TV the game at Wembley, and were very impressed.
Locating those people and bringing them on board to becoming backers of southern clubs is the job of Brian Barwick and Nigel Wood. But don't hold your breath.

Sky! There is/was a model to copy in the NRL. Three southern RL teams owned by Sky would be a damn site cheaper than the money they were looking to pump into Manchester Utd 10 or so years back.

Super League needs a team in the South, but not the ineptly run, poorly supported, toxic club that is London Broncos. Time to invest in smaller clubs in the South and youth and build up from the ground up.

| Success on the pitch, isn't necassarily a guide to "overall success" of a Rugby League club, some clubs, have been successful in the past and are not now but wouldn't be classed as "unsuccessful".
What matters in London is that there is a top level club for the work underneath to utilise, on field success comes and goes, supporter levels are generally linked to performance on field but there is a lot going on in and around London. We should really remain focussed on keeping a top level club in Capital and try to help them be more successful on the pitch to keep the momentum off the pitch in the communities going.

What makes you so sure these people exist? It's easy to criticise the likes of Barwick and Wood but is it a realistic prospect to expect someone to come in and initially invest over £2m a year ( probably £3m to put a successful team out there) and no prospect of immediate return? If he does exist now would be the perfect time to come forward, considering the option of a pre pack is on the table. I would be very surprised if these people exist in the real world but we can dream.

I don't see what they are willing to invest in London Broncos as anything do with what are are prepared to invest in massive brand like Man Utd.
Taking central funding I see your point. The problem been we have only so much money in the pot from Sky so who is going to lose out to give London the extra funds?

Because a) we are very poorly run and always have been. and b) the 'south' doesn't equate to London, it can include Brighton, Southampton, Bristol, Gloucester, Kent, Essex etc.

I was just making the point that they're not adverse to investing into a club who compete in a competition they own the rights to. News Ltd owned Melbourne up until recently and got them established. Sky should've done the same for the Broncos. I reckon it could pay for itself if London became successful with the potential additional take up of the sky platform plus the potential higher end sponsors getting involved.
