Sorry to see him retire. As an opposition fan I couldn't stand him but that has no bearing on his ability, SL will be poorer without him.

A player I would have loved to see at Leeds and a constant thorn in our sides. Top class player. Full stop. Not interested in what people think of him as a person. The lad oozes class on a rugby field, and is a bad loss to our game.

Ah the demon red wine! In a twisted way, comments like that are a compliment. If he wasn't any good, nobody would be bothered. As I say, I hated him as an opposition fan, but that was only because of what he was doing to my team time and time again.

With the way things are in youth development the game won't see a maverick player like Briers again. And will be poorer for it.

Very very good player. Could have been world class with a better attitude, did go missing a bit sometimes, but still a player to be admired and missed.

Say what you like, but he was an entertainer. Technically gifted but with the air of a chancer who'd give it a go given half a chance rather than memorise a playbook.

Mmm I though a career as a ref would be his next step...
