Quote christopher="christopher"Again it wasn't Mcnamaras decision, Brough made that decision 5 months ago.'"
Brough didnt ask to play for scotland.
scotland coach called him and asked if he would play for them seeing as he wasnt going to be picked for England. see below.
Much has been made of McNamara's decision to ignore the talents of arguably the best tactical kicker in the British game but Brough insists there is no ill feeling towards the national coach.
"He's picked his squad and I'm not in it," Brough said. "I've just got to bite the bullet and get on with my next job.
"I can't change his mind, I've just got to worry about myself and move forward with the Scotland team."
Brough is keen to point out that he did not hawk his wares around after being snubbed by England.
"They got in touch with me," he said. "I didn't ring them up.
"I think it would have been unfair if I had rung them and said 'I haven't got in the England squad, can I play for Scotland?' so I didn't do that.
"I waited for the call and I made my decision straight away that I would play for them."
