Another nail in the coffin for the Challenge Cup.

The Widnes v Wakey game back in 79 was pretty poor, however, that was very, very poor.

I should have got an inkling when the sound problems started prior to kick off, a big chance to showcase the game & it went horribly wrong.

Thank god that's over - Hull were absolutely awful, Wigan just poor - a dreadful game to watch.

Just coming out of Wembley now. Fair play to Wigan they got the win, but agree worst cc final in terms of skill, entertainment and effort from two teams in living memory. My critism of Wigan is they should have hammered us.

Hull fans must feel robbed. They literally saw nothing bar a run from their fullback, which ended appropriately with an incomplete carry.

Must be one of the lowest completion rates by a side this season in all competitions.

How Wigan did not slaughter them is almost as big a mystery.

Everything about the game was poor, from the empty seats, the sound, the pitch markings, the game, the trophy presentation to the shockingly pathetic ticker tape drop when O'Loughlin lifted the cup. The whole thing screamed small time sport.

But at least a percentage of posters on here will be ecstatic about that.

The whole thing to me was depressing, it screamed game in decline.

From the off field build up and presentations to the empty seats and the clincher the actual game itself on the field.

When have you ever seen so many empty seats at a CC final?

The on field product is getting poorer and the attendances reflect this, william eves thread shows the majority of attendances going down week by week.

Pretty sure anyone who'd seen worse would have chosen to end it all
