Out of him and Silverwood? Thaler by a mile. He was going excellently until the CC semi, made one error for which he has been slaughtered and has subsequently been less good - but still much better than Silverwood. I honestly believe about 50% of the calls Silverwood made on Friday night were wrong and he just does not deserve to get the final because of that. Thaler has made errors, but is IMO better than Silverwood.

Would I pick Ganson ahead of the pair of them? Probably.

Whilst I can't dispute Silerwood's poor/highly dubious display on Friday. As mentioned, Thaler was equally appalling in the CC semi-final.

My bug bear with Thaler is his woeful policicing of the play the ball. Anything goes; it appears his only refereeing raison d'etre is hands on the ball. Anything else goes, which makes for a messy, frustrating game for players and supporters alike.

For reference, have a look at Saturday's game and see the amount of times he went back into the defensive line, with his back to the play the ball.

Bentham was the best ref this season until his injury.

George Stokes is definitely one for the future referee wise, seen him a few times this year and been impressed.

Georgie Boy Stokes has gone backwards at an alarming rate of knots this year in preparation for full time SL next year, will be very happy NEVER to see this guy again in the Championship.

It doesn’t matter who the ref is, sometimes the rub of the green goes for you, sometimes against you. Wigan seemed to get the rub of the green against Leeds last week, yet they lost. Wire (imo) got a few decisions from the ref on Saturday, and won. If we all accept before hand that if the ref makes a mistake, it’s a mistake, and whichever team wins does so because they took advantage of any breaks they got, then we will probably be discussing a great game rather than the referee afterwards

Errors, inconsistencies and down right bent - one we can accept the others not.

I can accept errors, I understand errors will lead to ‘inconsistencies’. I haven’t seen anything which would even put a doubt in my mind that saying the refereeing is ‘down right bent’ are anything more than the ravings of the paranoid.
