I know I read recently that the direction of RL marketing is changing. The focus isn't going to be on specific events but on the sport. That makes better sense IMO. If the purpose is to attract new fans - which it is - then with what limited funds the RFL has available to it, money is better spent promoting the game in creative ways at significant times of the year rather than promoting an event for a sport people don't know about. The RFL can then back up specific events with their email promos to fans, as usual.
It would be really good if this video or any future ones could be shown on national TV at strategic moments. Costly, mind, but it would be good. What a difference it makes when a company that knows what it is doing is employed to do the job. Oh for a bit of extra cash in the game!
I really enjoyed the video. I don't think it matters which players are in it. The themes of RL were all there and expressed very effectively (only the flying balls of fire were a bit out of synch with the environment but hardly to the detriment of the video).
