Matt, I think the difference is the publicity and who it's from. For example if I had the chance to see Frankie Boyle and I was easily offended (which i'm not) I wouldn't go. The same for any stand up or edgey comic. If someone who was homosexual and a RL fan followed him on twitter, he'd get offended without any ind of warning.

For me Kevin Brown is an idiot for this. An apology is necessary.

Of course it wouldn't, but that's because they're malicious names - watch Graham Norton, Alan Carr and the likes on telly and they take great pride in reclaiming the 'poof' tag. There are different levels to these sorts of things IMHO, and Brown's comments might as well go alongside jokes about Irish, Englishmen & Scotsmen et al as far as I'm concerned.

Ill-advised to publish that comment where the world can read it but give it a break, it's just a bit of raw humour from a young lad. No need to hang, draw and quarter him. Actually quite an inventive analogy.
