I've nothing against Terry Newton.

But I'm just getting a bit fed up with everyone saying they are 'doing it for Terry'

'I've just buttered this piece of toast for terry'

'I've started taking 2 sugars in my coffee for Terry'

Why dont the team say they are 'doing it for Andy Gregory'?

I would suggest he was a far better role model than Terry Newton

Or better still... why not say 'We are doing it for England'

I hope Adrian is prepared to face Terry's grieving family after losing 4 competetive games and a couple of warm up games too.

The england team should have kept their mouth's shut

Walk outside and do something.
The circumstances leading to Mr Newtons death and the ramifications of what his family are left to deal with should not be the topic of a thread on a Rugby League Board. I don't care what Morley has said.
Mods lock this up please.

May have done.

Cant remember without looking it up.

Got bitten by an insect in Australia and eventually died?

Definately had the surname Gregory anyway

And so should you.
What is wrong with Moz saying he wants to perform for a friend and former England player.
If Terry is looking down on the England team he would be shouting to the hilltops for the English team.

morley has probably said that out of respect for terry(with absolutely no disrespect intended) and as a rallying cry.
i just think they shouldnt need a rallying cry and should want to win it for themselves and us english rl fans.the amount of time they beat us and the consequent gloating should be motivation enough

Quite right.

Saying they want to 'win it for Terry' is just another 'lets all jump on the Terry Newton train' type thing to say.

As I said earlier if they want to win it for anybody they should say they want to win it for Mike Gregory (not Andy Gregory as I mistakenly called him earlier), a man who was a far better role model for the kids and achieved far more in his life than the other bloke did.

I think this is a bit much. This is a serious topic and BM made it clear by giving further details that he knew who was talking about - he just got the first name wrong.

Quote: manly4ever "Exactly, thx mate, plus if it were bad taste why would the NRL put on there website...

And also this from Adrian Morley

I love Terry,There is no better way to try to make him proud of us than by doing well out there and representing him.'"

Not a problem mate. I think some on here come on just to have a go at others for no reason. Probably because they don't have the balls to do it in the real world.
