| Quote: John S "With apologies to the original poster on our site but here are the rest of the 'stories'
2003:
You are aware that things have happened aren't you? Stadium called in for public inquiry, Super Casinos scrapped, investor pulled out, archaeology found, learning skills council funding pulled, global financial meltdown. In all those stores, the situation had moved on, but it has been 3 steps forward and two back for most of the last 10 years.
We're (for the first time) in a position where finance is in place, the site started to be fenced off on Thursday, contractors have been appointed for the land remediation and infrastructure work, workers are moving on site now, and the tender is out for the construction phase - to be appointed in August to stat the build in October.
Now, who knows what will happen between now and October, but we'll still be closer that we have been before, and will stll be going in the right direction.

| Even if they start building it - it's got to be finished! Fax started their "stadium completion" in 1998. In 2010 they've finally got to about a 95% completion. It still aint finished! In my opinion the RFL shouldn't consider a criteria point for stadia until it has officially been completed. The John S post above quite frankly is embarrssing and highlight's the now tiresome nature of these announcements.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| I really hope this is genuine.
Super league could really boom if all 14 clubs were playing in quality stadia infront of bigger crowds! The game could grow massively. You only have to look at what it has done for other clubs!

| If you build it they STILL will not come!!!!
Glad Salford have probably got a new stadium, but can they "sell the club, team, game etc" to the people?
That I doubt sadly

| Well it was on Granada reports last night showing the digger starting up. Its official, they've taken a bit of grass away!
Good news that it's started and not just showing an "artists impression" They did say that the shopping "experience" would follow after the stadium was up and running but didn't state how long before that would be. Question though, how successful will the shops be seeing as the trafford centre is just over the bridge and just over the river on the same side of the bridge they've got another little shopping thing with Dunelm mill and stuff there. (sorry can't for the life of me remember the name of the small shopping bit, even though I drove past it every night for 2 years going home from work! lol)

| Salford will have to be playing in this stadium by the time they submit their franchise application in Spring 2011, otherwise it can not be scored under the franchise criteria. At least that is what Leigh were told when the last rounds of the franchise applications were submitted. From memory the LSV stadium was already built but awaiting a safety certificate and the RFL refused the stadium to be considered. Of course the RFL are very consistant on these matters and the goal posts will not be moved.

| Even as a Leigh fan, with the stadium built and awaiting safety certificates, we were still miles behind Widnes, but in front of Salford in my opinion.

| In front of Salford in what respect(s) exactly? If you mean stadium built, then I'll give you that but if it's anything else could I just prod your memory and say that by the end of that season we had won both the Northern Rail Cup and the Grand Final and in neither of those finals did Leigh figure. Indeed if promotion and relegation had still been in place we would have gone up by right and we would still be in SL now under that same regime. Also, I don't recall Widnes being in either of those finals yet you were miles behind them according to you. Finally, If you had not had a reprieve because of Gateshead going belly up earlier this year you would have been plying your trade two divisions below us. If that's being ahead of us then I shudder to think what your world would look like if you were behind us!!!

The retail planning permission is for "bulky non-food goods", so not what's at the Trafford Centre. The owners of the Trafford Centre are part of the joint venture that's building the stadium, so they obviously have their own ideas about the retail side of it (the retail land is landlocked and worthless until the stadium access roads are built), and the new road scheme that's going in place will link the site up with the Trafford Centre area via a new bridge over the Ship Canal joining the road to the ski centre. Fingers crossed, that bridge will one day bring Metrolink through the stadium site and on to Port Salford.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

| I notice the design isn't quite as ' Iconic ' as the original , or as big , in fact it looks very similar to the LSV,Stobart and the HJ , the next LEGO stadium
Anyway , I do hope it gets built

They should have been selling the Club for the last few years, but instead of some reasonable marketing they prefer to give a salary to a 'Football Manager,' that waste of space Simms.
