The question that remains unanswered to me - is how can these guys drink this much and still get a game in a top competition like the NRL - surely the drinking to this excess would impair performance - perhaps top level performance is not required to get in most NRL sides?

They don't do it the the night before gameday, their metabolism is that fast they can easily get the lot out of their system in time for training, I mean, have you never been to work slightly hungover or still drunk? And tbf he was thrown out at half twelve, plenty of time for sleep until training if he was indeed THAT bad

8 hours kip for a pro athlete is plenty of time to get it out of your system.

I would have thought as pro athlete the last you would want to do is abuse the very thing that makes you a pro. And yes I have been work slightly worse for wear and my performance was well down on the required standard - so for a physical job I am still struggling to understand how he can perform at the level of sobber guys
