| Jennings isn't great, in fact he's quite ordinary. He'll get room to run outside SBW but that doesn't mean he'll convert the chances (see the woeful missed chance in Rd 1) Fitness allowing, Hodges and GI will play in the centres, and that is the best two centres in the world, even if one is a full back.
Defending those two wouldn't be the job of the centre though, a centre in England will defend 3 in, the pivot will defend the centre directly. So it will be Sinfield and the best of the rest on the other side.
If pick Atkins and Watkins. Decent size and speed, both score tries and attack kicks well. But, McNamara will go with the more solid Reed over Atkins I think, in cover for the right hand pivot. I wouldn't worry about that though, Widdop and Myler are both strong defenders whoever gets picked.

| Quote: Harrigan "
The problem with League fans in this country is that they remember for too long. In 5 or 6 years time, Watkins could be close to being the best defensive centre in the world, but he will still be remembered for missing tackles when he was 19/20/21 years old and this same conversation will still be going on. A bit like McGuire, who is still seen as a 1 trick pony at the age of 30, even though the majority of his tries come from him creating something on his own these days and he has more assists than anyone else at Leeds over the last 5 years. It happens across the board though and IMO it damages our game.'"
Well said. Long memories for the bad and short memories for the good (until it becomes nostalgia) is far too frequent over here, we're pretty much all guilty of it.

If Hodges gets picked before Morris it will be a travisty.

| Quote: jools "When has brough choked in a big game? - how many big games has he played in that you are basing your comments on? Perhaps I missed all those scores of international games and finals he's played in that give evidence to your claims.
When brough first came to giants he had a reputation for being a "sulker" if things didn't go his way. I must admit i wasnt hapoy we signed him for this reason, but he proved me wrong. Since being at the giants I can't remember a time he's done that. Brough is a changed player mentally- he channels his frustrations in a different way to previously.'"
Ah well he's been through the Hudds system so he must be ace. Odd isn't that since you signed him your ritual trouncing of Wakefield has become less of a formality. Same happened to us against Cas apart from a majestic show at Cardiff in 2008. Truth is Danny gets to emotional and is to easily put off his game and trust me the Aussies are brilliant at exploiting that.
He choked most memorably for us in the CCup against his old club Hull, see the pattern.

You had better be prepared to eat your words here on this forum in the near future. Jennings would walk into any SL club. He is streets ahead of every English centre. Watch the tries he scores or assists with his lightning line breaks for the Sydney Roosters in the weeks ahead.

You make me laugh you really so. You can't logically refute what I say so I'm just talking crap. As I and many other Trinity fans have told you time and time again you're way down our order of importance so don't flatter yourself.
I have never felt Brough was International quality for all the reasons given previously - this applied even when he was with Wakefield - it's you with the chip mate not me.
If you had the ability to listen and not be totally defensive you'd get what Im saying.
I agree that Brough is probably the most skilled and exciting British HB in the game today - assuming you don't consider Tomkins a HB. However that doesn't always cross over to the International game and if you really understood RL you'd know that. International play is all about temperament and the ability to make snap decisions under pressure whilst combining with players you often barely know. Thus IMO and it's only an opinion Broughy doesn't have that element in his game and never will - I honestly wish it were otherwise as I'm a huge England and Brough fan.
FWIW the best SH available is Myler at this level despite IMO being an inferior club player to Brough because he ha a steadier game that will trouble the Aussies more over 80 mins. This said neither are a match for the Aussies IMHO unless our pack really gets on top and I just can't see that over 2 or 3 games.

Nonsense, Myler's "steadier" game won't trouble the Aussies at all. Brough at least has the potential to cause disruption with his kicking game, even if he can be inconsistent (which he hasn't been this year).

Hudds fan by chance, jeez you're a myopic bunch. It's my opinion live with it.
His steadier game will trouble them especially his kicking game as Mylers kicks will go roughly where he aimed the - Brough who knows.

I agree with this - but before endorsing Brough's selection I'd want to see how he's playing after 27 games rather than just the handful he's played so far.

| For me Brough would be in my starting 13. I think as Brough has matured he's become a much more consistent player than he once was. He doesn't lose his head as much as he sometimes used to and the label he had of going missing in games has become a thing of the past, although all players can have poor games. He's got a great attacking game with both ball in hand running or finding a pass. He's also got a good kicking game and for his size his defense is decent. He the best we've got imo & he's exactly the kind of player that could cause Aus & NZ a few headaches, especially if our pack can play to it's potential.

| People seem to forget that although the team Brough was playing in fell away last year he, as an individual didnt - he was the only one putting in a shift every week and was ultimately given the captaincy on the back of these performances and was ALWAYS the 1st player offering some encouragement.
Lets not judge individual players on what their clubs do as a collective effort.
