Great Impact off the bench.
Not Sinfield biggest fan but we need a kicking game in there somewhere if we're to play a forward dominated arm wrestle, he'll get through some work also. Last chance saloon for the tried and tested failure and shows our lack of depth.
I hope Smith can work out a spot for eastmond, somehow!
It appears Smith realises the old guard are not good enough so why not blood the kids with the right amount of experience around them, build upto the world cup.
Ultimately we're relying heavilly on Sinfield, Mcguire and Myler. 2 who have never produced at int level and a kid who still finding his way in SL.

Your being Harsh on McGuire who was one of only a few that actually played well/OK last year, he's gone OK in an international shirt and should be the first choice 6.
I am a little worried about Myler hasn't he been injured/not picked for Salford in the latter part of the year?

Two reasons why Danny Broughs omission is a complete joke.

| I'm quite excited to see how these young players do at this level. I expect them to struggle to contain the better backlines in the competition, but they have more attacking talent than any of the backs we have brought through in the last ten years IMO, and I think by simply taking the game to them we could be more competitive than we have been in some time.
My team:
Smith
Fox
Ellis
Shenton
Hall
McGuire
Tomkins
Graham
Roby
Peacock
Burgess
O'Loughlin
Sinfield
Eastmond
Morley
Carvell
Wilkin

1) If you'd listened to Smith you would know Harrison had decided he wanted to be available to represent England (thus making himself unavailable for Ireland) and Smith had told him that there was no guarantees of selection despite this decision and so Harrison knew the gamble he is taking, and is prepared to accept it in pursuit of a future international career with England.
2) Atkins isn't in the squad but don't let that stop your informed comments.
3) I doubt it

| Thought Nick Scruton deserved a spot as he has been playing great all year in a poor Bradford teams and thought he should be in there ahead of someone like Westwood who just isnt good enough and gives away so many penalties

I don't think many would rather have Scruton over Westwood

| Sinfields kicking game?
I hope you are talking about his goal kicking, because his general kicking game is non existent.

I thought another reason is that he's Scottish until 2010?

| I agree Clan, people may not like him but we need a half back who has a good tactial kicking game. Tomkins and McGuire do not fit the bill.
Ellis to move to the centre's after about 20 minutes of the first test against the Aussies/Kiwis with Sinfield or O'Loughlin coming off the bench in the pack. Sad but likely

No!
His situation is no different to Ben Harrison or Chris Bridge.
He's available, he has the best kicking game of any scrum half in the league, he's a goal kicker, He can defend which means he does'nt have to be hidden somewhere in the threequarter line, He's got a great running game and will take on the line He's got enough pace to go the length of the field, He's got the ability and the maturity to boss the forwards and the game, He's got so much dog in him he should be on a lead but don't all the great half backs have that. He would'nt be fazed by any opposition he'd relish it!
Andy Gregory, Alex Murphy anyone?
We've craved a halfback with a bit of arrogance and the skills to back it up for years, at one time it was a pre requisite.
You might not like him but his omission from the England team is a joke.
We have no maturity in the half back role other than Danny McGuire at Stand off, Brough is a scrum half.
We are very likely going to shoe horn Sinfield into the team in order to add some organising and some semblance of a kicking game. Unfortunately as good as Sinfield is at club level he is proven not to be up to International standard at the highest level e.g. Aus & NZ.
I'm not Danny or his dad!
His exclusion just seems stupid to me.
