Quote: Code13 "The only ones spitting dummies are the Fax supported club who can't accept that for all Wakefields failings, they had a better bid than theirs.'"

Does anyone know that? Really? I'm not disputing the fact out of hand but wouldn't the RFL be better explaing their decisions?

Only prob with that is that they, or some Halifax fans, could end up looking a bit daft.

Quote: roughyedspud "i think the point is teams like widnes, leigh & halifax busted a gut to meet the criteria and spent millions in the process........where as the likes of wakefield & castleford have done bugger all but got in

How have Cas done nothing

Finished bottom in the season before franchises were given out , but are now 7th in league and in semi final of challenge cup . We are solvent and have used our three year tenure to continue to develop our youth , marketing and community set up . We have obtained and been granted FPP for a new stadium , which when WR is sold WE will pay for as we actually own our ground , but will not be rushed into accepting a lower price than it is potentially worth by selling to a housing company at a much deflated value , but instead we choose , quite openly , to wait and receive its true value and sell to a supermarket chain instead .
Indeed , the Castleford Tigers should be seen as the exact reason why franchising works . We were continually up and down between SL and Championship ( National league at the time ) under the P & R set up , unable to get a footing in the SL as , by the time the winner of the NLGF was determined , SL regular season had long finished and any decent players from the relegated SL club had already been snapped up , meaning that we were the weakest team when promoted , hence all too often were relegated again , but because we had money from SL , we were able to stay full time and , were hence far superior to the teams in NL , and so we came back up again , to go down again and so on and so on . How can this be the way forward . If P and R were re introduced Fax would still be no where near SL for these very reasons as when the SL team was relegated they would stay full time and be in a much more advantageous position than NL and would come straight back up .
I do understand your frustration , but ATEOTD you were not considered good enough to take the place of Wakey , or whichever other club was deemed to have the 13th best application . It isn't just about a stadium . Indeed , how can you say we have done nowt ( meaning basically no new stadium ) and use this as an argument , when you want P & R , which wouldn't involve any stadium criteria . It seems very contadictory to me , but maybe I have just got the wrong end of the stick

Quote: Paul HHZ "That's not what I asked. That's not what Smokey said should be required for a CC club to get a license.

I agree with you by the way.'"

I didnt say it was required for them to get a license, i said it was required for them to guarantee themselves a license.

The object of licenses, the object of the RFL and the SC and pretty much all the rules of off the field SL is based on getting the bottom clubs to the level of the top clubs. That isnt achieved by throwing away the growth already gained by Wakefield so Halifax can try in three - five years time to be slightly less crap than the crapest club in the competition.

Quote: Starbug "While the original concept is e good one , ie it is time for some displeasure at the recent decisions of the RFL to be highlighted , the original wording is wrong , however I think a more interesting slogan is now in the offering , one that many clubs will support , well those outside SL anyway icon_rolleyes.gif

It was in the RL press months ago, and has been mentioned in tweets from RL journos. Apparently the clubs were worried by the potential impact on sponsorship if their financial performance or business plan were rated poorly. At one point they were trying to have the gradings withheld as well - we would only have been told the number of each grade and not which teams had achieved them.
