| Touche, I stand corrected and apologise. Please forgive my cynicism. Regarding your last point, I've still not seen a rationale for why TWP won't receive any central funding?

I would imagine that the cost of sending a team to Toronto, including back room staff (Physio/Trainer/Coach etc....) will be close to £30,000. Given that a few teams will be going over twice (some maybe a third time) in a season, the other SL clubs wouldn't be keen on that additional expense in 2020 as well as the added costs of running a reserve squad.
There will be a slight bounce in "away" fans compared to 2019 as they will attract a few more fans in their first year, but once the novelty wears off, then the clubs will have to market there home games v Toronto really hard.
I believe I read (but can't recall where) that some of the SL money being denied to Toronto was going to be used to bolster the central marketing of Super League itself, so it may well be that the £170k I mentioned may not be going to the clubs, but that SL will allocate them the funds depending on the number of trips required across the pond.
Either way, I believe that the Championship will be a pretty even competition in 2020 with any number of sides capable of winning. Toulouse need to shed the "bottlers' tag and get some consistency about them, Leigh will be stronger, especially if Marwan is drip feeding Delboy some funds, London will be there or there about, as will Fev, Fax and possibly York if they can build on last year.......meanwhile, in SL, I can't see past St Helens, Wire or Wigan.

Bradford appear to barely have a pot to pi$$ in - let alone be a likely threat, looks like bad times again for them

| I think Toronto will win the title within 3 or 4 years.
I was part of the internet forum in 2010 where these guys from Canada talked to the Americans and arranged to play an exhibition game at "War on the Shore" as their first attempt at playing League.
Within 2 or 3 years the Canadian national team was competitive with the American and Jamacian sides and Canada had a thriving comp.
After only 4 years of playing the game they launched the Wolfpack and have now risen through the ranks to the ESL.
It's basically the rise and rise and rise of Canadian Rugby League from a thread on an internet forum to the ESL in 9 years.
The USA comp has been going since 1998, and the Canadians blew them out of the water in no time at all.
I don't know how they have done all this. I thought their first game in New Jersey wouldn't come off because it seemed pretty hard to get a team together to travel to another country to play a game they hadn't played before, but they smashed that, and have smashed every step since.
If I were them, i'd already have the spot picked out for where the 2022 ESL winners trophy will go.

| Salford got to the grand final on the back of an Aussie reject being their one and only decent player. I’m not saying Toronto will, but if they sign SBW there is no reason they can’t be a one man team either and reach the grand final.

You don't get to a Grand Final with only one decent player, you are obviously new to the game.

SBW is not a ball player nor a play, maker. He is a one trick pony in that his offload is effective, but it is all he has.
Toronto will have to adhere to both the cap and the overseas player quota (ie, have a certain number of English/Canadians and a strict limit on Anzacs and Islanders). I have no doubt they will recruit well and will utilise the Marquee signing allowance, but thereafter, quality players will be hard to come by.
I expect to see a few "traditional" sides in the relegation mix in 2020 and Toronto potentially safe by August, but talk of them winning a title in 3 or 4 years is a "stretch" at best.
I hope they stay up as they were ruining the Championship for the rest of the sides. They are a SL club with a wealthy backer and it'll be interesting to see if they can tempt top tier English players to Toronto, because with the best will in the world, the squad that got them up, won't keep them up!

Now now. No need for the gratuitous condescension against a fellow forum member who is expressing a legitimate opinion.
By the time that Toronto wins the Grand Final in 2022, Jackson Hastings' freakish Salford will be a fading memory, having long been relegated to the Championship in good order.

You are correct mate, I should try your tactic of 'belittling' clubs, rather than the poster.
p.s. Excellent English by the way, considering your French !

I was lucky enough to have been educated in an International School, where the education was bilingual, so my English is excellent, as you say.
Thanks for noticing.
P.S. You should have written "you're French," as in "you are French," not "your French."

| What part of these Canadian guys smashing every target they set themselves and making the top grade has people thinking they'll tank next year?
I don't know what steps they are taking, and I don't think anyone on here does either, but I'm pretty confident they have been thinking about this for a few years and have a plan.
