"The Golden Generation finally has its Golden Fleece! They have Wembley Cup Final winners medals to add to their collection."

| Quote: Call Me God "To be totally Honest, I questioned the appointment of Mac to Leeds.....his win ratio was less than 37% at Harlequins RL and finishing 9th, 9th, 11th and 13th and whilst he was initially only appointed as an assistant only to get the job when Bluey went, he inherited a team of stars.
His biggest attribute was his man management and the way to get the team to Gel, but I recall a few games in those first years at Leeds when the team were playing "his way" and losing, before the senior players changed the game plan in the middle of games and got them out of some holes.....but as those players have drifted away and not been replaced, his shortfall in coaching skills were exposed as they were at Quins RL.
This is much a damning verdict on the clubs owners, who seem to have taken the cheaper option wherever possible as it is Mac, who I found to be a straight up guy with a real passion for London RL'"
Tbf with regards to his Quins record which sometimes got thrown about on the Leeds board, given the squad he had there those placing and win ratio are about realistic for most coaches.
Key reason why he got the job was his years as Assistant at Leeds in 2004/05. The players were big fans of his and credited his role in those successful years. Even if he was cheap in 2011, by the end of 2012 and 2 GF’s and a WCC to his name I’m sure he could ask for a wage that was pretty good do he won’t have been cheap for the majority of his years there.

| Quote: ThePrinter "The lack of investment can’t be ignored but it can be understood. Since around 2009/10 withBuderus and Eastwood it’s dried up but that was around the same time the South Stand was condemned and cost us plenty every year to keep open whilst we tried to get the new stands approved. No coincidence for me the on field investment dipped at the same time'" What is this "on field investment" which is claimed to have "dried up"? Leeds have continued with squads pretty close to salary cap, there have been lots of players who have had to have pay rises over that period and what your Aussie dollar buys you has evolved.
And Hetherington has continued to splash money on transfer fees, nearly £600k spent since 2010.

I think that's a ridiculous stance to take, getting relegated would be an absolute disaster for Leeds, a proper rebuild requires building on the good things a club has and despite the poor year we have some very good players, most of whom would leave if we dropped down.
To rebuild we need finances to be good and relegation would be a massive blow financially, best that can happen is we get through to the CC Final (extra revenue) and get through the M8s OK with a proper plan on how to move forward.

If we’re still pretty much at the salary cap then that asks more questions about how much are on. Yes some will have had pay rises but plenty of high paid talent has left.
£600k over the course of 8 years is £75k a year which isn’t really that much when you’re talking about a top team and have those signings been value for money? Two of those weren’t really planned also, Parcell he had no choice to get him in after the hole Segeyaro left us in preseason and Ferres fell into our path because of his personal circumstances.
Honest question do you think the Leeds squad would be the exact same today if we hadn’t had to do the stadium and all the money that involved.

The way Hetherington has managed the salary cap for years though has been on a promise of better contracts down the line, when players move through the ranks and become senior team members. They are relatively underpaid at the start and overpaid a bit towards the end, by Leeds standards at least. So if you looked at Leeds salary list now it wouldn't make great reading without the context of history and the loyalty both sides have shown each other. When the music finally stops that's a bit tricky but 15 years of success shows it has been effective.

It is a lot of money given hardly anyone pays transfer fees nowadays. Parcell cost £65k, Ferres £150k. How they perform is a bit irrelevant, it shows signs of being willing to spend that people are saying Leeds haven't been doing.

Yes.'"
Fair enough, I’ll agree to disagree.
WRT to the spending and the £600k figure over 8 years. GH is a man who spent £350k for one single player back in 1997 so really highlights the difference.
I know Leeds reward the players who have been their a long time but looking at todays squad how many is that really? Not that many especially compared to 4/5/6 years ago.
