Have you tried explaining the 2x12 and 3x8 system to any non RL fans yet, people are certainly surprised by it's complexity.
Even on threads like this one, not everyone is clear on what will happen and this forum is generally used by people who think they have a decent knowledge of the game.'"
What are you struggling to grasp about the new system?
And explain the qualifying process for the Champions League...

| I explained it to my soccer loving mates at work who thought it was a great idea
What this will do is create a logical pathway to have two full time tens in a few years as it allows the second tier clubs to develop a FT structure with increased funding and the dream that attracts fans and sponsors
Toulouse need to enter asap then another French club a couple of years later

| It really is simple, build your Championship club financially and you will get a chance to enter SL irrelivant of location and past history
Dont build your SL club financially and you could get relegated irrelivant of location and past history
Its called proffessional sport

You probably need to read it through again.
Simple would be 1 up 1 down or 2 up 2 down.
Just a simple question for you though.
How long do you think that the game will stick with the new system.
5 years, 10 years or for the foreseeable future ?

Who can actually answer that ridiculous question?
I'm keeping open minded with it - unlike a lot of people on here - I can see the benefits of it but also the negatives. Who knows what will happen. We will only know once we see it in action.
This ludicrous 'it's too complicated' BS is embarrassing. It's pretty simple really.

That's a bit simplistic, for years and years teams have struggled to get on a sound financial footing. Growth comes through success in all sports. If the top four of the Championship becomes a closed shop as I firmly believe it will it's very hard how the teams perceived to be failing in the Championship will grow their gates enough to compete financially.
This will kill any hope of realistic progression for all but two of the current Championship sides.

I don't see it as too complicated
It's just over complicated and designed to ensure that "every minute of every match in every competition matters" which itself is BS.
The big 4 will "manage" their squads, just as they have for a number of years and once it becomes clear who the top 8 are going to be there will be some games where the outcome is not important (just as we have with the top 8, under the current system).
If the game is serious about "meaningful competition" then a way needs to be found to have a more equal distribution of funds, with equal amounts given to the teams in the top flight and equal amounts given to he teams in the 2nd tier and, for a club that finishes in 9th in SL (possibly by only 1 o 2 points) to be labelled as "qualifiers" and need to fight for their SL survival is just plain ridiculous.
I know that we have 14 clubs in SL at present and that Bradford and London are likely to be relegated but, if next season is similar, with the bottom 2 clubs on very few points and the cubs in positions 9 & 10 on somewhere around 12-14 points, they shouldn't start the next phase of the competition on 0.
Of course there are 5 clubs in the Championship at present, who face relegation and their supporters must be totally enamoured with the whole concept, but its best not to think about them too much isn't it.

Probably until a few championship clubs go bust chasing a FT dream on crowds of 1200 and we see 60point thrashing a in the middle eight comp with diminished SL crowds for those SL teams dropped down into it creating financial difficulties for the 4 SL clubs. I'd give it 4-7 years tops.

| How will it grow the brand of super league by splitting half of the "elite" division and making them play small provincial part-time clubs.
It will totally devalue the Super League name.
If we took this year as example, how do you think Salford playing championship teams will pan out...a few 3 figure results or very close too me thinks

Against London, Bradford, Leigh and Halifax? I doubt it.

This has been an ongoing plot, supported by the weak unproductive M62 eternal failures, to drag our sport back to a part time nationwide structure.

| I understand the new system easily enough - I also understand that it's utter rubbish and a complete gimmick in its attempt to artificially create an 'every game means something' situation (sick of hearing this phrase thrown around). Regardless, as is the same with the current setup, at some point in the season there will be games that are irrelevant in terms of whether a team ends up in the top, middle or bottom 8.
Switzerland used the same system for about 15 years - they got rid of it because attendances, tv revenue and sponsorship were suffering so much. Once they got rid, average attendances were up almost 50%.
If we were going to bring back relegation it should have either simply been one up and one down or have a playoff style game between the bottom Super League team and the top Championship team with the winner being in Super League the following season.
