Brough is an outstanding defender and is also a left footed kicker both of which make him different Sinfield. In some ways he would complement Sinfield.

What he needs is an opportunity to play a couple of games with the England team and develop a partnership.

anyway England will not win playing Tomkins at full back.

He's been our best player in every match since he's moved to FB and, once again, last night.

Not seen much of Zak Hardaker this season.

For the last 10 years or so we've seen quality players like Briers (when GB was active) and Paul Cooke be shunned and we've taken to the pitch with halves incapable of a decent kicking game and expected to compete against the Aussies.

Now we have a player like Rangi Chase who seems incapable of selecting the right option if a simple out of the back play presents itself.

Sinfield and Brough should be our halves and for once I see the spine of the team i.e. 1, 6, 7, 9 & 13 seem obvious: Tomkins, Sinfield, Brough, Roby, McIlorum & O'Loughlin.

There's enough depth in the front and second row as well as the wingers nowadays, through in Watkins and some other form centre and we might actually have a chance - especially as the World Cup will be knock-out football.

The day we genuinely pick a squad on form will be the day we win
