Halifax should buy The Bradford Bulls and use them as a feeder club

No, i highlighted the fact Starbug was evidently, again, talking bollox by using Halifax as an example which disproved his point.

Putting a traditional RL club that has won major silverware in the last 25 years and has attracted crowds regulary of 8-9000 at times in their history (whilst been in the top division) would surley be daft!

what the RFL should do is take another risk with another expansion team.

- yeah! thats it one that couldnt attract more than 1000 home fans for any games at 10 euros a pop!

Toulouse is a lovely city (i have been twice with fax - both occations fax had nearly as many fans as toulouse in attendance!)

If Fax were given a chance in SL there is no reason why we couldnt make a good job of it.

Yes we would need some major investmest, we would need crowds to steadily rise (like Hull KR did)

and would need to attract a higher quality of player, but why would this be so unbelievable with a higher salary cap and SKY money to spend?!

we have a board in place at the minute that has managed to make a profit last year on a very limited budget....more than nearly all SL clubs can boast. And are likely to do the same again this year having already won silverware and are well in the race for another GF appearance.

TBH i couldnt care less any more if we get the chance or not. I just thought id put forward an arguement against wasting more time trying to expand a game further than the North of England. Its not working.

Correct.....except for the team sitting 4th in the table averaging 9,311 fans at each home game this year and who will continue to increase the interest in the competition and the sport.

Also, I question your version of not working.

If you mean "they have no fans" then yes, London are a shambles, but if you mean they are a financial drain on the competition, they don't help attract thousands of youngsters to the sport that would otherwise be playing soccer/union, they don't win awards for their community work, they don't give the competition a "national" feel that gives advertisers a warm glow and they will never be competative, then I am afraid you are to be congratulated on your induction to the flatearth society of the M62!

London have never cost a penny more than the other 21 SL teams, with the exception of Bradford and the Wrexham Crusaders, who have cost a lot more....they have never been found to have cheated the competition either...unlike a few other clubs over the years.

The only thing not working with regards to expansion is the RFL. A quick glance at how the Aussies look after the Storm in an AFL heartland will point you in the right direction......they want the game to grow so they INVEST heavily and none of the other clubs complain or whine....they are a unified (to a certain degree) sport.

You also say..
Quote: SIMMSFAXTEDDY "TBH i couldnt care less any more if we get the chance or not.'"

...I suggest you'd be walking around with a hard on for 3 weeks if it was announced Fax were in SL.......but like the others in this thread who've had enough of SL, you keep trying to play it cool fella.....you've got most of us fooled icon_lol.gif

Quote: a.n Other "Why would the "big boys" in aerospace invest if Toulouse were in SL? Why wouldnt they be investing now if they were going to?
Would it be that appealing to them to be involved in a club that only has one rival in France andplays half its games in England with no coverage on French TV (unless that changes)?'"

they don't need to at present though there is a presence at every home game - the current sponsors are sufficient to keep the club going at LER level

now that Bein Sports are involved in french RL any sponsors would get automatic coverage for all the home games at Toulouse just like at Perpignan at present

I didnt realize that RL wasnt really played in that area until Catalans were put in SL. icon_confused.gif

just to add to that - Toulouse is a ar richer area than Perpignan generally with a bigger potential fan base and a bigger investment potential

notice the important word is 'POTENTIAL' - nothing can be taken for granted and a lot would depend on having a competive team to get the speccies to attend as well as good marketing, something which Carlos is good at plus of course good management to give yourself a fighting chance

all very pretty....but still, I was responding to the statement below.

as for the widley held understanding......you are spot on, but I repeat, read what I was responding to before questioning my post.

Where would the players come from for Toulouse? NRL is drying up and it doesn't look like the French systems are bringing through enough quality Jnr's to stock two teams?
