I'm sure many media quarters will take delight but they wont be the cause of the embarrasment the game will suffer. The RFL need only look in the mirror for the root cause of it.
All the media will be doing is 'We told you so', wearing their best flatcaps no doubt.

| Rumours and a few sources down here are saying it is a done deal.
I'll still try to make as many games as possible but don't know where this leaves us as a club or what our chances will be come the next round of Super League applications.
Gutted we have been moved from South Wales. The only plus point I can think is we will have a better ground to play out of.

It'll arguably make you more accessible for away fans from the north of England too. Cuts the travelling time from somewhere like Leeds by more than half compared to Bridgend.

| It's not a circus it's a point I wanted to make and to let Northern fans know that's all.
Looks like Leighton Samuels has pulled his money out partly or altogether and the Wrexham FC chairman is the guy who is best equipped to take over.
I think we could still give it a go next year. The sad thing for me is the journey is now 2.5 hours rather than 2.5 minutes from the local.

Which is a telling point, I think, as although it increases the accessibility for away fans, it also decreases their fanbase by quite a margin IMHO. Fact is, football is king in North Wales. Quite saddened by this, to be quite honest, as I really hoped they'd be a success in South Wales.

| We could have been a success in South Wales I'm sure of it.
The team were already showing signs of lads coming through after 4 years and only 1 in Super League. Now we up roots from that very playing base.
It's good for Northerners to get to yes but I think it has done more harm than good. It is not official news yet but I fear it soon will be.
Will the RFL leave us in Super League next time as in theory this is not expansion as it is 30 miles from the nearest club.

Mebbe they could build a motorway or something?

| Just to add here that because of the move we've probably satisfied more of the criteria as we're still a 20-mile radius from any other club.
I still think the long term sustainability of the club is not there by cutting themselves away from the lifeblood of a club that is youth development.

| If they are serious about this the RFL should kick them out of SL now.
They have only moved to Newport this season, why the jump to Wrexham? It can't be argued that it is the same team this time. Wrexham cannot support a football team, how can they possibly also run and support a Super League franchise? Crowds of 2k anyone?
Kick the sheep out and add some more frogs.

| Although they are going through many difficulties (and they are not alone when it comes to RL clubs and their history) it’s better to sort out things like this early on so as little people as possible are affected.
They are starting from a low point with respect to home support so to top 2000 shouldn’t be too difficult and as the Wrexham chairman is involved he will have a vested interest in wanting the Racecourse used 12 months a year so he will (should?) put effort into promotion of the game in the area and to make the venture more viable.
However, it’s sad for the people they may leave behind in South Wales, hopefully a second Welsh club could be set up in their place to play in the lower divisions so all would not be totally lost in the Bridgend/Newport area.

| It will be about £20 return to Wrexham for me.
I will follow my club as much as possible and hope one day common sense prevails and Crusaders are brought home to South Wales.
I wonder what Widnes and Wire make of all of this as it might have a knock on effect on some of their crowds.

Melbourne had talent scouts in Queensland so really as a club for the whole of Wales there is no reason why development of juniors can’t continue, after all they are not bound to city/town boundaries and rivalries like the Northern English clubs are.

| No they're not but it's a big ask.
It is the equivalent of a Northern English team asking the youngsters to up root. It won't be easy. The other question is if the club are taken over as such then will they keep the development streams going?
