Quote: Marsdengiant "You said that because I did not give the figures that it followed that I did not know if c clubs got sky money. the first point does not logically determine the 2nd. It is an illogical conclusion to draw from your 1st comment.

No. I asked you what the figures where. I assumed you must have know. You certainly gave the impression you knew what exact figures were. TB kindly replied with the figure £100k. Is all the £100k from money the RFL have to allocate to clubs from SKY. Do you know?

[b:34xc0vwf]Doubt everything, even this[/b:34xc0vwf]:1357.jpg

Quote: Derwent "Nope.

It's up to £100k - it's not a defined amount per club. £100k is the maximum a club can get but the amount each club gets differs depending on criteria and circumstances - it can be anywhere from £0 to £100k. Additionally, the money isn't just given over by the RFL - the club has to employ the person first and then apply for the money to cover their employment cost, if the RFL reject the application then the club is left with a salary to pay that it often can't afford.'"

yep.

That's why I made a point of saying "subject to strings". As it happens I have a lot of sympathy with the view that clubs (whether in SL or the championship) are selling the rights to their games and should get a straight fee for that.

However, I also have a degree of sympathy with the view that the RFL should be encouraging clubs to be run more professionally, so they don't end up facing, eg, winding-up orders for not having paid tax they owe (whether that's income tax deducted from players salaries, national insurance contributions, VAT or whatever).

ps: I also understand, iirc, that the total pot available wouldn't cover every club getting the maximum £100k.

But it's not true that championship clubs get no money from the TV deal.

This is an improvement on when they got none from the last Sky deal (from 2006) which didn't pay for the rights to broadcast NL1 &2 games, but was itself an improvement on the British Eurosport deal being touted, where we would have had to pay the TV company for the games to be broadcast. And I hope the next TV deal is an improvement on the current one.

The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind The kind that blindside you at 4pm on some idle Tuesday. Do one thing everyday that scares you. Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts, don’t put up with people who are reckless with yours. Don’t waste your time on jealousy-sometimes you’re ahead, sometimes you’re behind…the race is long, and in the end, it’s only with yourself:5728.jpg

I think thats it.'"

I have long advocated that the RFL should provide a central admin bureau for clubs that took the administrative cost burden from them and also ensured that PAYE, VAT etc was dealt with efficiently. If, for example, the RFL had a central payroll dept that handled payments for club employees and the subsequent payments to HMRC, then issues would be flagged up much earlier. The RFL would seek reimbursement from the clubs and if a club did not meet it's obligation then the RFL have an early warning sign that a club is in trouble.

Another area where it could work is in marketing and commercial operations. For example, negotiate with one kit manufacturer for the rights to make all club's kits to ensure a lower unit cost for replica jerseys and hence more profit for clubs.

Personally I think they could quite easily be set up and use up much less of the central funding than is used now, but it will never happen because it goes against the "we've always done it this way" ethos.

Some very good ideas there, it may be a long shot but it might be worth e-mailing to the rfls financing department.

I know, why not have a weekly program thats available at, and covers, every game

Oooo, hang on a minute. That's not worked as some clubs still insist on producing their own. Oldham included.

Because said weekly programme was basically a re-hash of League Express. That, and our own programme is a damn fine publication.

It maybe "a damn fine publication" but are they actually making any money out of it?

That's the point what I am trying to make.

I gave the impression? icon_rolleyes.gif

You did draw an illogical conclusion and I have stated several times on this thread the route the money takes re central funding - if you cannot understand it, tough.

Quote: pyeman "Is this 100k that they are free to spend on whatever they choose? no it isnt so read my post again. Why do championship clubs not get to decide how to spend money they are given but sl clubs can? I'm pretty sure sky do make money out of championship games through advertising as they do when they show all of there sports, if they didnt they wouldnt show them.

[The RFL do impose some rules re the money...I wonder why? icon_rolleyes.gif

Show me the post where i said I know the exact amount a c club gets from Sky. Take your time...read through things carefully.......don't go by the random thoughts inside your head......dont get sidetracked by claiming I am an impressionist.

Show me where I said I know the exact amount or posters can conclude you are dillusional.
