Quote: Derwent "Well put it this way, they are not listed on BARB as being in the top 30 shows on the channels they were shown on for the weeks they were last shown on Sky.

Considering there are things that made it into the top 30 such as Live Greyhound Racing, Americas Cup Sailing and Las Vegas Darts Classic then you get the idea. The lowest rating in the top 30 on any of the Sky Sports channels was 31,000 viewers. Therefore, by implication, there were less than 31,000 viewers of State of Origin in the UK.'"

so you dont know the answer?

thanks for that, its what i suspected

Quote: digger "NFL and Aussie Rules have no games over here so fans of these sports rarely get a chance to see a professional game. One off games are bound to attract big crowds. Rugby League fans can watch games every week and showpiece games twice a year. This is why playing the Origin game over here would not sell out a big stadium. It would not raise the profile of the game as it would only be interesting to Rugby League fans. It's a dumb and pointless discussion.'"

origin isnt just another RL game.

and it would appeal to people who arent just RL fans.

I know that the viewing figures were less than 31,000 which is poor by any means that you wish to measure it by. The exact figure is irrelevant in that context.

Now if you want to interpret that differently and look even more of a t!t than usual then go right ahead Walter.

You're right, played in the UK it would be a game between two teams that UK RL fans have no interest in. It would not appeal to non-RL fans as much as the Challenge Cup final does.

well since you are the self appointed expert, how did other programs rate in the same 10 am time slot on a weekday

surely you wouldnt be dumb enough to compare a RL game shown in a poor time slot when people are working to shows in prime time at night?

I do watch it so you'd lose that bet. I hear that less than 31,000 do in the UK though.

Tell me why you think that it would attract people that aren't interested in Rugby League in the UK.

Yes, I'm a Rugby League fan so I often watch games. What's funny about that? How about you answer my question instead of proving my point about it being a dumb and pointless debate?

Why would it attract people in the UK who aren't interested in RL?

winning like never before. decoys. mouse traps. chicken wings. lollie pops. shepperds. the crusher. grapples. big league. In 1935 The Dragon Slayers as they were known defeated Canterbury bulldogs 91-6, which is still the biggest win in the Club's History. In 1907, the St George district had a club in the Sydney rugby union competition. Interestingly, the team's area was referred to as the 'Illawarra suburbs'. A resolution to form a St George rugby league club was made at a local meeting held in early 1908, but the movement faltered and collapsed. St George, wearing the district colours of red and white, played in the NSWRL's Third Grade competition in 1910, and formed a President's Cup team in 1911. References were found at the time to district teams being called 'The Saints'.the perfect 11 //www.dragons.com.au/shop/index.asp //dragons.leagueunlimited.com/ //www.showroom.com.au/dragons/drag ... 1intro.htm:34439.jpg

Those figures include those who watched the two replays of the games, typically at 6pm and 10pm, hardly ground breaking figures no matter how you want to try and spin it.

UK RL fans are just not interested in a fake competition devised by the ARL to compete with the massive figures the AFL were getting.
