What really stinks is that the penalties to companies go direct to government instead of to the persons who have been short changed, surely on top of the shortfall they should be getting recompense directly from their employer to the value that the government is decreeing the penalty amount.

Major firms and organisations should be named and shamed for breaching minimum wage legislation.

That way, consumers can vote with their wallets and decide to not add to the profits of unscrupulous employers.

This, by the way, does not make me a 'lefty' (as I've been accused of being on here, bizarrely). It makes capitalism work more fairly and efficiently.

That's exactly what happened (months ago) with a list of employers who paid less than minimum wage.

Clearly Wigan entered the wrong hourly rate or number of hours in the system (bit like my employer forgetting to enter my overtime) for that one employee and sorted it as soon as they could. Absolute b@stards.

Then good on them for owning up and rectifying their error. That deserves credit.
