| So, what could teams do to attract new people through the turnstyles??
Obviously this idea seems a bad one reading some of the replies.

Wonder if they'll be giving their fans partial refunds?'"
As I posted above.... why would Salford fans want refunds?

| As marketing ploys go. It’s pretty embarrassing.
Why would a load of football fans who probably don’t even know what rugby league is want to go and sit in a soulless stadium in the middle of nowhere whilst still mourning their club?

Tbh, I'm not sure that going to watch Salford will be any comfort to the fans of Bury and the Bolton fans will just be happy that they still have a club to support.'"
I'm in favour of anything that might get more people watching our game

| 4,000 sports fans in the nearby area suddenly have no team to support, and would probably not want to immediately support another football club. Salford would be daft not to try to tap into that, particularly as they're hardly awash with fans even when they're playing well.

| Quote SaleSlim="SaleSlim"Wow what a bunch of miserable pr*cks you lot are (apart from FishermansJockstrap who is just a troll).
Do you really think Salford RLFC gain a huge amount out of this? Any Bury/Bolton fans that turn up won't be putting any money in our coffers (even food/drink sales go to the stadium management company) so there is no financial gain. The media exposure is minimal to say the least and I'm sure anyone that does take advantage of the offer is unlikely to be rushing to sign up for a Salford season ticket anytime soon. Likewise I can hardly see those spotting the gesture through Social Media etc suddenly clamouring to the AJ Bell because of our amazing generosity.
Maybe, just maybe, the club are trying to do their bit to help local fans of other sports in their hour of need (although Bolton appear to have a stay of execution for now)? We've invited people down before on freebies (family racially abused in Salford/Armed Forces Day etc) so it's not a first and I hope it won't be the last.
As for Salford Season Ticket holders having their noses put out of joint, I can't see it being an issue. Doesn't bother me one bit as I pay to support my team and will do so regardless. I've always felt we're a family club so fully endorse anything the club does to support local communities.
Now get a life you saddos.

| Quote Tigerade="Tigerade"Great gesture by Salford. I can't see a problem with it.
Amazing how a bunch of Wakey fans jump-on to it like a ton of bricks.
Every club do a promo of some sort during the season (even Wakey). Kids-for-a-quid, invite-a-friend ect. It's called [utrying to get new support[/u. I hope any Bury or Blackburn fans attending catch the RL bug. They might even be tempted to watch RL on a regular basis - which IMO can only be a good thing.'"
I dont think that anyone is saying its a bad idea but, come on, it's not like Salford have chucked £500,000 into the survival fund, they have basically tried to entice some new fans into their game.
As I say, nice move but, dont pretend that its a really charitable move they are trying to mop up some disaffected fans from a football club that is in strife.
