You’d think Warrington had won 20-6 with the way the commentators were speaking. Wigan weren’t even good and still won with absolute ease. When Warrington win nothing, Price should be sacked. Poor team with an even worse coach.

Because those are the rules. I don’t agree with them and judging by your post neither do you but you can’t blame a ref or VR for applying them. The VR has to have conclusive evidence and be 100% to overturn the decision. It then becomes subjective, do I think it should have been a try. Yes. Can I see why it wasn’t allowed given the refs call. Yes as Patten’s ball carrying arm raises after touching the floor albeit slightly.

I thought the first Patten NT was the right call but then second was wrong. I also thought the obstruction given when French was in the clear was wrong too.

The 2nd no try seen at normal speed clearly shows Patton's momentum taking him over the line. Poor initial judgment from Thaler and spineless decision by the VR not to overrule him.

All in all, pretty shambolic from both.

Although I kind of agree with you, if this isn't on tv the ref has to make the call.
Mind you, when the technology is there, every VR call should be 100% correct.

Maybe every call should go up as neutral and let the VR decide or have him pass it back to the ref if he is still unsure

The second decision is a perfect example of the ref guessing and his mate confirming his guess.
If you are not sure sending it upstairs without comment has got to be implemented for next season.
