It’s Terry not Terence I’m led to believe - Terry is commonly and correctly used as a stand alone name. Maybe it confuses you (what doesnt) that Barrie sometimes calls him Terence as a joke.

You have a right to your opinion. I don't challenge that. But I have a right to mine. If Terence O'Connor were to be knighted, for example (say for services to rugby union), he would be knighted as Sir Terence, not Sir Terry. Sir Terry would be just silly. I believe in giving him the minimum respect he deserves.
