| Kevin brown is too old to be brought into the fold now. His England career should be starting to fade out now not just beginning.

| Kev Brown has been a slow burner who's now an excellent player who can control a game after having his early career damaged by being over burdened at Wigan. He was a fabulous young talent when he broke through with us but he never had much of a kicking game and was pretty much just a running threat. He's a Wigan fan and was desperate to do well so I'm glad his career has gone as well as it has.
As for Williams he's another cracking talent. He's a nuggety player who can defend strong and he's a real threat with the ball. His short kicking game is very good and if he can work on his passing game he could become a really well rounded player. His decision making is getting better and better and it needed to because it was too slow at the start of the year and he got caught in possession a lot.

Nice try but even compared to Williams his defence is better;
Brown has made 128 Tackles, 9 marker tackles and missed 17 (13%)
Williams has made 243 Tackles, 22 marker tackles and missed 23 (9%)
So not sure how you work out that Brown has been better...

| Didn't work out the %'s just the total number of missed tackles. Not saying Williams is a bad player at all just stating that Browns defence isn't as bad as some would have us believe

| You don't judge a half primarily on defending, but Williams' defence is very good; no issues there. And in attack he is coming on a treat this season.

| Really like Williams. Wane has so far been right picking him over the over-rated and over-hyped Hampshire.

Hard to judge really. Hampshires form dropped off a cliff as soon as the Sam Tomkins news was announced but he's no full back and never will be. He's never really had a chance at Wigan at stand off and that's his natural position. I doubt we'll ever see him get a run in the halves at Wigan.
My guess is eventually he moves to another club, plays at stand off and goes on to become one of superleagues best players and a full international.
We'll see though.

| To be fair, if Hampshire was to get a run in the halves then either williams or Smith has to be dropped. Tough call I'd say.
It's Not as though wane won't play Hampshire, and obviously wants to try and find a place for him hence the full back spot. Does anyone think he should pick williams and Rocky to start in the halves?
Does Rocky have a kicking game?

| Quote: McClennan "Been holding off saying anything in case I thought I might be jumping the gun. However, after today I think he's reinforced by opinion that he's the first natural stand off we've produced over here since, probably, Tommy Martyn.
I'm not saying there hasn't been good stand offs since him, but there really hasn't been one who has that footballing guile. Williams has it. That thing that players seem to struggle with developing over here.
Fingers crossed he can stay healthy and improve his game because he has tonnes of potential.'"
I think Nigel Wright was younger than Martyn. So I'd probably go for him - then Martyn.
Like Martyn (and the generation prior's finest - Tony Myler) - Wright's career was blighted by injury. No surprise that so many have forgotten his name.

It gets easier to like him the longer he's retired.
