NOT TRUE AT ALL

The UAE RU accused UAERL of illegally using the name 'rugby'. Which is clearly total BS as RL has just as much right to the word as RU, but they claimed to be the sole 'rugby' authority and the government believed them. They forced UAERL to change its name to 'rugby league commission', clearly avoiding any confusion with RU. And that obviously wasn't enough as now they've had the RL boss arrested. The next step is banning/arresting all players who play RL. And sadly they live in a corrupt enough country that they can probably get away with it. ing pathetic cowards.

I'm not 'disagreeing' with you, your post was factually and concisely wrong. The competition that Nissan were sponsoring was called the 'Rugby League Cup' FFS, there's not even any kind of possibility of deception or 'fraud'.

Hmmmm. A very very similar situation happening in Italy. Union trying to either deny the existence of, or control another sport.

It's nothing to do with fraud or sponsorship, the UAE RU are illegally claiming sovereignty over RL. World Rugby need to step in NOW to resolve this situation and suspend membership of this corrupt organization. Please spread the word to let people know what's going on here.

This is the most telling paragraph IMO, or approved by the GAYSW, to represent the country or play under the 'National Team' title, or use the term 'UAE Rugby' at any level of competition, whether in or outside of the UAE. This, alongside organising and managing any domestic rugby activity is considered as falsely representing the country of the UAE by the relevant government sporting authorities."

The UAE Rugby Federation are blatantly attempting to prevent RL being played despite their previous statement:

"Rugby League is an important code in the game of Rugby and we fully support League being played in the UAE"

Err, no you don't!

The UAERF is clearly a RU organisation, and have no jurisdiction over RL. Taken from the UAERF website:

"The UAE Rugby Federation was then awarded a Full Membership status of the International Rugby Board in November 2012 which is the highest recognition that a Union could be awarded by the International Governing Body."
