| Baring in mind the wakey fan (troll?) above is brain dead and anyone with eyes can see this.....
I thought the welham incident was purely accidental when viewed as soon as I got home, it's going to be badly viewed by cas fans because of Thalers complete over reaction to the Finn incident
I can however recommend specsavers for mr Thaler (who said to me personally he doesn't hate cas despite his brother being told he was rubbish by the club) shouldn't be allowed to referee my club again because he is bordering on being biased !!!

| The headbut was hardly anything.
He needed a penalty because he shouldn't do it but it was a push with the head rather than a butt.
Dorn hardly even noticed it.
The Chicken wing didn't look that bad either but he was holding on and Welham did react so you'd think he hurt the joint. Bin and report worked fine for me.

I never go for biased but it was a deliberate head but (albeit a push with the head, rather than a full on "yozza" style head butt).
However, in a different game he would get 10 minutes for it, or maybe a sending off.
Good win for Cas though, the first one at KR in the SL era.

| Quote bren2k="bren2k"Looked like more of a push with the head because the Cas player was holding his hand down to stop him playing the ball; the ref's response was weak, but I guess consistent with the Morley incident in last night's game - he blatantly headbutted *and* swung a punch, but got off scot free.
The chicken wing was a bit over-stated, but Finn did put pressure on the joint; it was clear from Welham's reaction on the replay that it hurt, hence his blow-up.'"
No, thete was no pressure on any joint or any manipulation, however looking at the replay it seems ad if Finn might have dug his nails or needlessly grabbed into welham's upper arm which is why he strangely kept hold of his arm.
No chicken wing though. Thealer was wanting the touchy to tell him that.
What happened to give what yoi see, not what you think you see?

| A chicken wing tackle involves intentionally putting pressure on the shoulder joint by levering it at an unnatural angle with the intention of causing pain and/or injury. Finn was merely pulling at the arm in a non too forceful manner. If tackles of that nature are designated 'chicken wing' there'll be 2 or 3 every game.
Welham clearly felt pain and I wonder if Finn nipped his arm - a cowardly but not serious offense.
Welham clearly intentionally headbutted Dorn under little or no provocation. Under most circumstances I'd say a penalty and on report was about right but having 'binned a player moments earlier for foul play about which he was unsure, to fail to do so for foul play that he saw and was sure about smacks of inconsistency.

| My opinion he did it out of frustration (obviously no excuse, and he definitely should have been binned at least). Looked for all money Rovers were going to score on that play and Welham blew it.

I wasn't implying there was a chicken wing - hence my saying it was 'over-stated.' Perhaps I should have prefaced it with 'so-called' to clarify that.
I only watched it at the time and haven't watched it back, but Finn was pulling on the arm and Welham did appear to be in pain and blew up about it; either to milk a penalty or in genuine distress. Either way, I agree, the sin bin looked harsh.
Referee decisions have been very inconsistent so far - what with Bowen's miraculous escape, Morley's free pass to do what he likes, Dean Collis' ban for a tackle that spectators of both the teams involved agree was innocuous and last night, Mr Thaler getting himself all at sixes and sevens. And that's not to mention the VR doing their best to keep Salford within spitting distance of Saints by chalking off a clear try.
What a schemozzle.

| He should have been sent off for head butting. It's up to the disciplinary panel to decide what "scale" the head but was on and decide punishment. But players should be sent off for butting whether he just skims the opponents head or breaks his nose. If he had thrown a punch he would have been at least sin binned.
Allowing players to get away with head butting is surly sending out the wrong message. Next we'll get under 9's butting opponents thinking it's ok.

Then it's up to the coach of the under 9's to stop it happening and generate a better and more pleasant environment in his squad. There's lots of things that happen at the top level that shouldn't be within a country mile of amateur RL.
