| Quote Kiwi Shane="Kiwi Shane"He made the mistake of believing his own hype and considered himself bigger than Souths. Madge had a gutful of him and when he copped a fine he spat his dummy out.'"
To be fair, most of that hype came from the Aussie RL media with plenty of help from Russell Crowe.
Quote Kiwi Shane="Kiwi Shane"He wont make it in union. He is no Sonny Bill.'"
Given his propensity for squeezing opposition players nads, I'd suggest Sam is already halfway there to making it in Union.

| Quote William Eve="William Eve"It'll be very interesting to see how his final year pans out at Souths. I wouldn't be surprised if he quits (or is sent packing by Souths) earlier than planned. I wouldn't even be surprised if he's gone before the NRL season kicks off!
Huge loss to RL. It's a tough enough loss him playing down under in the NRL because his star quality was lost to Super League but at least there was the satisfaction of his international RL appearances. The switch to English Rugby Union goes way beyond any feeling of loss. Unfortunately, Rugby League as a sport is unable to provide him with the requisite big stage that his star quality merits.
Sad, but true.'"
Questions like what will become of his brothers need to be answered as well - will they be vilified along with their brother? Released alongside him? Will they follow him to Union or stay in league? Lots of questions to be answered ...
I'd be slightly more inclined to agree if both world cups were imminently incoming (that's not to say I think our international game can match unions) but it might be more of a case of - failed at one have a go at another?
Big loss, but as with everyone, no one player is bigger than the sport.

Seeing that Sam is highly unlikely to make it in union then the likes of George, Tom, Paul, Ringo, Bo and Luke or whatever the rest of the brothers are called have no chance whatsoever.

| Why do cross-code players always end up signing for Bath? Do they not realize how much of an absolute hole Bath is? At least he can have fun with Eastmond in the freezing cold playing a sport that nobody watches, I guess.

| Kiwi Shane talks a lot of (bitter) rubbish. There's not a RU side in the world that wouldn't be delighted to have Sam Burgess in their team if they got chance. Conversely, the current England international RU centres (anybody ever heard of them?) wouldn't get anywhere near being picked for any Super League team.

Not a lot of love for Sammy around various social media pages. Quite a few sources are also saying he wont play in the NRL again this year.
Triple M (an Aussie radio station for those who don't know) aren't that bothered either

compared to where exactly? Sydney? depends on the suburb, but given the boom in the economy over there, like rats in London, you're never more than 8 feet from a bogun in Sydney. Bradford
Quote headhunter="headhunter"At least he can have fun with Eastmond in the freezing cold '" short memory there HH......19 years of Summer Rugby has eroded your memory has it?...I suspect it was quite "nippy" in the SL this weekend too.........
Quote headhunter="headhunter"playing a sport that nobody watches, I guess.'" Yep....little old bath with their 11,516 average for the last full season, higher than 12 of the current SL sides averages...unless you were meaning England Rugby Union and their poor attendances
Why is it that so called RLFANS feel the need to try (and fail) and score points against the slower but bigger and more popular code?....very very strange.

| People are forgetting that Sam Burgess has a complex about SBW and is trying to emulate and outshine SBW. However Sam cannot outshine SBW, but he will return to RL at the same time SBW does --- in May 2017. SBW will return to the Sydney Roosters, and Sam Burgess will return to South Sydney.
You read it first here!

Sadly it's that flatcap wearing whippet breeding pigeon racing mentality that so many UK footy fans have ... better known as jealousy.
