Why does it need a naming sponsor? The RUWC does okay without one, so does the FIFA World Cup.
The last time the RLWC had a title sponsor, the tournament was a mitigating disaster. The last two didn't, and they were huge successes.

The coverage for the 1995 event, in the papers at least, was probably better. That was on the back of the probably unprecedented newspaper coverage of the 1994 Ashes series. |
