And is obviously so much less credible than the (at max) 5 team tournament that the Union World Cup is.

But the football World Cup, the biggest of all world cups, only ever has 4 maybe 5 credible contenders.

Just checked on snopes and the baseball World Series doesn't derive it's name from early sponsorship of the NY World newspaper. You unlearn something everyday.

It is a bit of push to call it a World Cup - but see also RU and Cricket.
