| Quote Biff Tannen="Biff Tannen"Like i say, two different styles of prop.I watch a lot of NRL like im sure many do on here and have been astounded by some of George's early games and what he brings to the table as an impact player. But Phil Gould did his best 13 of the year the other day and George didnt make that side as one of the props and he probably wont make the NRL team of the year.Thats not to say he hasnt been great but he still isn't the finished article, which is scary in itself!
As a Leeds fan, no i wouldnt have had George over JP this year.he wouldn't have been able to carry our pack in the way JP has had to game after game.
That said, really looking forward to seeing George and Sam play for us in the WC, and hope they can carry their club form through into the tournament.'"
His stats suggest he is a lot more than an impact player.Averaging 46 minutes a game and the work he puts in both in defence and offence during those minutes back that up.
According to Fox Sports Statistics, the hulking forward crams an unfathomable amount of work into the 46 minutes he plays each week - averaging a whopping 140 metres and 26 tackles per game. Elsewhere, George has also busted 95 tackles, made eight linebreaks and scored seven tries.
JP averages 156 metres and 33 tackles per game.47 Busted Tackles ,Line Breaks 3 and scored 3 tries.

I would have all four brothers & James Graham in the England squad ahead of any in super league & I am not a beliver that all thing australian are better just that three of those have been up in the top players from the start of the season Luke has come back from injury & played his way into the starting line up at the back end of the season & Tom has forced his way into the Souths side as well, add to them Widdop & the ginger from the Broncos we have the start of a good side.

| The Key to greatness is Longevity in the game and on that score JP is one of the all time greats.Being disrespectful to him to suggest that George is 6 times the player. If his stats are still holding up and if he is even still on the park when he is 35 then he will have done extremely well and maybe then you can hold a realistic comparison.
On this seasons stats they are very similar players although JP does get a lot more game time. Some of that will be due to the strength of the Bunnies forward interchanges. Why burn a young player out when you have quality interchanges.
JP is coming towards the end of his amazing career and i am sure he wants to spend as much time as he can in every game on the field before he hangs up his boots.

By the Ginger one i take it you mean Jack Reed.He is out of the World Cup with a dislocated shoulder i believe.
Can see Sam,George and Luke making the squad. Not sure on Tom as he has only had a handful of interchange games at the top level.Throw James Graham into the mix and you have the makings of a forward pack that will stack up to anything the Aussies can put together.

Never been a fan of Luke, don't think he would add more than Hill or Crabtree. Graham is a shoe in, I'd start Hill alongside him. With George and Tom/Crabtree off the bench. Add in Westwood, Ellis and Sam Burgess and that is a monster pack!

| Can Jamie Peacock not be tempted out of retirement for one last shot at winning the World Cup on home soil? Do we need him? He's been sensational recently, but with Sam Burgess, George Burgess, James Graham, Earl Crabtree and Chris Hill is he needed?

| Burgess v Peacock as a comparison is as much a mismatch as Burgess v Sinfield or Brough.
may as well be different positions, certainly different skills.
You might prefer one to the other but each is very good at what they do.

| George is certainly a monster - that YouTube video highlights that you give him the ball within 10 metres of the line, odds are he's going over (and carrying a number of defenders with him). Forwards are set to compete with the Aussies and Kiwis - although we certainly aren't going to dominate there (like we always think we will). They are more than able to handle our pack.
The issue is (and why I fear we'll feel let down come WC knock out stages) that we can't compete with the power, pace and accuracy of their backs. We're getting better e.g. Watkins, Hall.... but the level is still too far off the regular NRL star backline players. Sorry, that's the truth.

| George and Sam are shoe-ins for the England first 17, along with Graham but the other 2 are only fringe players at the moment in my opinion. Never seen Luke as much more than an average SL prop and have seen nothing more this season to change my mind. Tom doesn't quite seem to have the same impact as George at the moment but I am sure he is capable.
Interesting stat that keeps arising on George is that as well as his tries, more tries have been scored directly after he has played the ball than any other player - highlighting the impact he has when running the ball.
The comparison with Peacock is just silly - all the Burgesses could still learn a lot from Jamie and I'd have him in the 17 if he made himself available.
As for the reason we struggle vs the Aussies is mainly the big game players the Aussies have who are used to producing game defining moments in tight, intense games. Its mainly the halves that is the massive difference, in recent past, we can't compete with the game management of players like Lockyer, Thurston, Smith, Slater etc even though we can match them down the middle.

| Tom Burgess hasn't been selected for Souths this weekend so any talk of all 4 being in with a chance of the England squad would seem wide of the mark. How do we judge Luke? He's been injured for quite a bit if his time over there and wasn't anything special here.
Sam and George are shoe ins.

I would agree with this.Luke is a good prop, more than capable of holding his own in the NRL as he has proved. Is he a better option than the likes of Hill,Crabtree,Mossop etc.. who he would be competing with as one of the fringe props in the squad? We are clearly very strong in the front row department.
