I suppose he's better than McDonnell though. The lad Shaul has pace, but it's a poor state of affairs if he gets MOTM considering he was far from perfect

| Quote ChampagneSuperRovers="ChampagneSuperRovers"I'd have been embarrassed collecting the MOTM if I was him, not a slight on the lad at all (he may turn out to be a good player) but how poor the quality in SL is and how little he had to do to warrant it.
Did he not knock on, he almost stepped over the line collecting the simplest kick return imaginable too.

He got man of the match!!!!
The only decent thing he did was back up for a walk in try, the lad might turn out to be good but did very little to warrant MoM in that game. Both Whiting and |Ellis had far more impact on the game.

| Possibly, those that awarded the MoM to Shaul, also took into account that he had just two SL games under his belt, playing in a key & pressurised position, in one of the biggest games away vs your arch rivals, & made no mistakes (the knock-on call was incorrect). His try was also far from a 'walk-in' and swung the game into Hull's favour.
I'm not saying he should have been given MoM, personally I'd have picked Walker. But like I said, those who voted had their reasons - to be completely dismissive of the decision is a little short sighted.

The position is his to lose now. Unless injured I think he has played his way into the starting 13.
Its one of the best things about Gentle as a coach. Under Agar we would have square pegs in round holes. He had no faith in the young players in the squad. Under PG we have seen youngsters given their opportunity and when they seize it they stay there. Shaul and also Crooks and Lineham are classic exmples.

Yes - only Burns in front of him - I see your point.

=#FF0000He did but it was a harsh decision as was pointed out in the commentary.
he almost stepped over the line collecting the simplest kick return imaginable too.
=#FF0000Is that like being almost late?

Think the MOM was as someone else has pointed out more to do with him being a rookie more than anything else. Although he came in and took the ball up from acting half a few times. Laughed off every little wind up that came his way and played the game with a smile on his face. Took his try well and was wrong footed for the first try by a lucky fumble. All in all not a bad performance.
MOM for the game was Walker IMO but they rarely give the losing team the award.
As for Shaul and the future, who knows. There are many players who have started brightly and gone on to do nothing so lets not put and undue pressure on him.
