What exactly is Lancashire? It's a Manchester cricket team and the county of places like Blackpool, Burnley and Preston. I'm from Warrington and support St Helens and the concept of Lancashire respresenting me is a tad strange to me.
If we're going to do something 'rep' based then it has to mean something to be successful. That is why Origin is successful, because it means a lot to them. Failing that the Exiles concept is the next best thing, as at least it is of a higher standard than you'd get in a Yorks v Lancs event.'"
You could always go East vs West, but there would be plenty of "Yorkshire, Yorkshire" chanting (whatever you call it)

It runs from the River Duddon in the North to the River Mersey in the South. Irish Sea to the West and, for the sake of simplicity, we'll just say the Pennines to the East.
The whole Greater Manchester/Merseyside thing was administrative only. Even at the time it was said that it wasn't breaking up the historic county boundary.

It's a fair point, I've always thought that are scouse cousins have struggled to identify with Lancashire as a team, but surely you can see the merit of it representing the left side of the Pennines?
WOTR is the obvious route to us matching the Aussies for me. The RFL need to properly support it for at least five years for the good of the British game.

| no he does not
Depending on his age, it depends on where he was born for what he is. Only Warrington could leave both Lancashire ("we're not GMC or Merseyside") and Cheshire (in 1989, except when criminals need to be arrested or fires put out) to become an island by the ship canal. Historically, really it's a suburb of Winwick.

| It has potential. Although my memory becomes increasingly jaded, when they tried the "Roses" games in the past, they were usually midweek.
These days, with the involvement of SKY, the game could marketed more strongley and if National jerseys were up for grabs at the end of it all, then maybe the
players might treat the game as a full on Origin type game.

And therein lies the problem. The Roses game was never treated as a GB/England selection game as the coaches always have their little favourites that will be picked and very rarely go off current form for team selection.
