| We used our fingers and thumbs as posts and you had to get the coin through posts just like Rugby.

| Aye, spin the coin, catch it between 'cocked' thumbs, and fire it over the oponents' posts of thumbs as crossbar and first fingers as uprights.

Yeah I've played that one before. Good laugh that. I remember when I was a kid, I made a pitch out of the underside of a dominos board (had green felt), drew the lines and a SL logo in the middle. The felt slowed the coin down a bit which made it easier, and you could do 40-20s.
Only thing I didn't like about penny rugby was getting hit in the face with a coin on conversions!

Never heard of it.
And this is the first I've heard of Subbuteo rugby. Always thought they only did football.
I was thinking more along the lines of Foosball (as the Americans call it).

| matchbox rugby not played that for years thats the thing where 2 of you sit opposite each other at a table and flick (we used a 2p coin) to slightly overhang the edge of the table you then had to flick it up and catch it if you caught it you got a try then your partner would use his hands to make posts (make a telephone with both your hands, put thumbs down on the table and then bring out both your index fingers till they touch at the tips). then you hold the 2p between both thumbs and flick it over for the conversion. loved it

As a kid I had Subbuteo cricket and my friend had rugby. They even did a version of speedway at one time.

| Matchbox rugby = Coin rugby, give or take.
Subbuteo Cricket was ace. Subbuteo Rugby was crap. Still have both, and around 20 Subbuteo Football teams.
