| Quote mmp="mmp"a) there will not be internationals v Aus in those years....
b) we've had a reasonably well supported 4N in which the games had 23k and 31k attending the two England v Aus games
c) we do not know the terms that the RFL have got Wembley on or the cost/availability of AN Other stadium
what i am sure of is that the RFL will have factored all that into their decision. maybe a 50k stadium for a double header might have been better'"
I was only illustrating a point about the best way to ultimately build an audience. Successively increasing attendance at full stadia is a better tactic than trying to increase attendance at one giant stadium starting from a low base. The lack of atmosphere discourages people from the next one, so rather than increase attendance you risk having an even bigger problem next time. Watching Millenium Magic on TV this year didn't make me want to go next time - it looked like a very flat experience. I only say *looked* like a flat experience. For all I know the people there might have had the best day ever, but it's the people that look at it on TV, and the impression that they get, that deterimines where the extra audience comes from next time. If the place looked like it was bouncing I'd be keen to give it a try.
I don't think the terms the RFL got matter. If its the wrong venue its the wrong venue. We shouldn't even have asked for terms on it. Plenty stadia in this country of almost every relevant size, with owners keen to make a bit of extra dosh.

It would look a lot better. Don't forget that one of the reasons that there are so many sell-out games at Twickenham is that it's in the RU heartlands. If they played their big games at Old Trafford or St. James' Park, Newcastle it might be a different story.

Agreed. I can't wait personally, I just hope Wembley cover up the empty seats in the top tier with something.
I have heard adverts in London as the lad at work with no taste in music listens to Capital Radio.

| The timing of the games coincides with around the time fans will be getting season ticket packs through their doors. The trip to Wembley is probably half a season ticket per person. For that reason loads of people will watch it on the telly instead imo.

Sweet. Just surprised I haven't seen any tube adverts, as I usually see a couple of Cup Final ones.

| Don't know if it's been mentioned but it's currently advertised on Travelzoo's Top 20 deals.
The deal is £25 for the £45 tickets, hopefully might encourage a few more.

| Come on you're not going because you'll be embarrassed about poor attendance....really??
It'll be a good night/day out, get to watch england rl back at wembley, get home and chill out with a few beers and watch it back on sky if they win. An all round enjoyable experience that's why I'm going and why you should too.

I think it'll be a 4nations record. Should be corker of a game as well, can't wait.

Dont forget all the subsidised tickets that go to schools and kids clubs and friends and family members of people involved at twickenham.

| Nothing is more damaging to RL than it's own fans
Also, do people really think Twickers is full of paying punters? Really?
Double header, at the national stadium. Cracking stuff.
