Yep people make mistakes, and if it was just this then it would be one of those things, He is making more than most and often crucial ones- my point is he is being criticized on a regular basis but cummins continues to ignore this.

He's a touch judge at the Salford-Cas game on Friday. Not sure what we've done to deserve him!!

I don't normally criticise refs (I couldn't do it) but I do think that getting the tackle count wrong is a big clanger that deserves more than being demoted to TJ for a week.

Having said that i wonder how often it happens without a try being scored and no-one notices/complains??

Mr Child gets alot of stick - especially at the start of this season (and rightly so). However, of late he seems to have improved dramatically. I do not see how this is worse than what he was doing at the start of the season.

If Childs has been dropped for this its a disgrace because Phil 'Bent' Bentham single handedly lost Cas the game against St's on Easter Monday. In that game St's had TWO sets of 7 tackles (one which they too scored from) and yet Cas had TWO sets of only 4 tackles! In addition Bentham forgot to single the last on another of Cas' sets leaving us turning the ball over on our own 40. Thats 5 sets he ballsed up in St's favour and yet nothing ever came of it. He also has form as he was shown up live on Sky at MM in the Hull derby for doing the same thing.

You saw his display in Cardiff? You saw and heard all about his horror show at Hull? Did you see the try that never was that he gave Crusaders for the clearest double movement you'll ever see? Did you see the try that never was that he gave at Salford a week before the Bradford game? Did you see some of the blatant errors he made in the Bulls game last week?

Mistakes are allowed, but the frequency and nature of those made by James Child suggest his competence to referee at SL level has to be seriously questioned.

What really has to be questioned is the decision by Stuart Cummings to give a young, inexperienced & recently criticised referee 2 very big games in consecutive weeks with the Leeds v Warrington followed by Bradford v Saints game.

Also while we're sticking the boot in to refs, whoever was reffing the Saints v Leeds game missed that Saints only had 5 players in a scrum and 8 players in the defensive line.

If you think he's bad, ask older Australian supporters about a certain Greg Hartley (and stand well back!!).

Coaches and players would be sacked/dropped if they consistently made major errors in every game they were involved in. Childs is a professional referee, paid by the game a decent salary - at the very least he should perform with some level of competence.

Questions also need to be asked of Cummings - and his role in selecting and appointing the full time panel of refs.
